this is so far the lowest price point for local AU stock, such a great tablet, especially the waterproof feature, my grandpa loves using it everyday since I got him one at Sony Centre last time for around $480

well, you might be lucky enough to get stock with last time's price coz most of them gone :), I love the price that under $400 too and the Z1 was so crazy that with just $659 or sth + free wilreless speaker
Scorptec and Centrecom had the Z1 for $549AU AUS Stock from 26th - 31st December.
No free speaker, but there are so many on eBay that you could have picked one up for $30. Also to add the speakers aren't very good, very low sound and the mic quality is quite lowsy. I was on the end of a very bad quality phone call to someone using of those ball speakers.
$480 for a grandpa is a pretty good deal. I never expected the Sony Centre to sell them though.

Maybe android is just too complicated for you. I had an iPad and yes the apps are nice but felt restricted and only way to fix that was to jailbreak it as where android has most features I needed straight out of the box. I will only go back to an iPad if its on a super crazy low price as its too expensive at current prices for what it offers.
It is not the lowest it's been, as it was available for $397 just recently. In any case, too bad Sony keeps locking the bootloader, so no deal for me.
