Thats probably because that "legendary occasion" was a Dick Smith "advertise products that we have minimal to no stock" clearance.
At the time EB had the same deal with plenty of stock on hand

From my reading above the "legendary occasion" pricing was $299.214? That's just insane. I had heard $299 and that's already crazy enough. I think that ever since, the cheapest I've seen them go is for $368 or $399 with a game. I was expecting a good bargain for boxing day, but the truth is that since a month ago no place has sold it for any less than $400, which is a price I refuse to pay unless it's bundled with a really good, expensive game, like Mario 3D World.
Yeah they sold out though after lunch sometime when I tried to get a price match at JB Hifi… most unimpressed by my phone randomly reloading the page when I went to show the staff member… 'Out of Stock' %^&*!
Tempted to buy this the other day but decided I have no interest in Skylanders so may as well wait for the Mario and Luigi bundle to go on sale.
