DeLonghi Nescafe Dolce Gusto Machine $49 (Was $119) @ Coles

340

This machine is now $49 at:
* Coles CAPALABA QLD.
* Coles Whitfords WA (Hillarys)
* Coles Harrisdale Perth
* North Rocks in Sydney

Some stores have them, others don't…

Personally, having seen the Aldi machine in action, and their $0.30 ish pods, I'd be looking in that direction first. Personal preference, though!

I have a Dolce Gusto machine, and it works OK - but at ~ $8 (for 16 pods, incl 8 milk), coffee is quite expensive …

By the way the price keeps dropping, pretty soon they'll be paying us to take them away!

    I have one of these machines as well as a Nespresso machine. Dolce Gusto machines are rubbish. You're better off buying a $49 cafe Italy machine from Woolworths.

    Edit: Link to the Woolies machine ($49) for those who missed it. It's a much better buy!! Also a lot more options for coffee pods. (ie. Woolworths branded Pods, Gloria Jeans Pods, Twinings Tea Pods, etc.)

    • Yeah, I got the Dolce Gusto since it had hot chocolate, had pods with milk, and also did cold drinks. But Woolworths never stock the variety of pods and currently selling at $8.19 for 16 pod pack (and with cappuccino and latte 2 pods are used for each drink). Occasionally you can get the pods on special. I think the coffee is ok though, just no variety. I am about to swap to another machine though, due to the high price of pods and low variety. Might just go back to basic non-pod coffee though. More choice!

        Harvey norman has the "iced cappuccino" pods in a light blue box, and @Coles you can find peach iced tea, mocha and the "regular" expresso ristretto, americano, chai latte,cafe au lait, and cappuccino pods. I have got this machine, a nespresso one and a breville brewer. Breville makes the best coffee and froth, Nespresso is good, but at home most people prefer the variety and easiness of Dolce gusto ;) And the coffee is more than acceptable, better than many coffee shops in Sydney at least

      • Someone on here said latte was only one pod? as it had the milk and coffee in the single pod?

        • Yes that is correct :) So it's only $0.50 a coffee, unlike cappuccino that is 2 pods and makes it $1.00 a coffee.

    I have the Aldi machine, and after a demonstration of the Gusto I much prefer the coffee from the Aldi.

  • Got the gusto and pretty happy with it

    Added link in description to claim the free sample pack after you purchase.

    I received a 20 capsules of cappuccino, hot chocolate and americano with mine, which is a good $20 worth.

      Thanks for the edit, Hamza!

    i got one of these for free recently, the ristretto pods are quite good. If you're drinking your coffee with milk, stuff the ones where you pay for powdered milk, just buy the black coffee ones and a milk frother

    • +2

      Or just buy cafe latte which is coffee and milk in a single pod and quite nice.

  • Was given one as a xmas gift. Wouldnt recommend , but its cheap….

  • was given one for xmas and would recommend for the price with an aldi frother it makes lovely cappuccinos just stay away from the included "milk" pods as they are nothing more than powdered milk and rather yuck but the hot chocolate pods are lovely

    • -1

      the included "milk" pods as they are nothing more than powdered milk

      Well of course. What else do you think that they would be?

      but the hot chocolate pods are lovely

      And those are standard powdered drinking chocolate. You can buy large tins of this and mix it with hot water or hot milk, make the exact same drink.

    The coffee is too expensive, not a deal for Ozbargainers…..

    • $8 for 16 pods. About 50 cents a coffee. Unless it's the ones that require 2 pods, then it's $1 per coffee.

      • Buying coffee beans from deals on Ozbargain costs me about 30c a cup +milk, marginally less probably.

        I just don't see how pods are worth it when I'm actually getting a quality cup of coffee, you know, cafe quality, not "it will do" quality, as the case of pods.

        For me convenience isn't a factor because I strive to make the best coffee I can and have a bit of fun doing it, getting the grind and extraction right.. but hey.

          It's not for everyone I guess. It's for lazy people or people who just don't know how to make a coffee.

          But not all their pods are coffee. There are hot chocolate and ice tea as well.

  • I think I agree that the pods are just too expensive. A regular priced box of pods come in 2 varieties:

    1. $9 == 16 x pods of particular varieties of coffee only
    2. $9 == 8 x pods of a specialty coffee (paired with 8 pods of milk capsules)

    A Latte Maccchiato or a Cappucino variety costs over a dollar per pod! How much does a standard Nespresso pod costs?

    • Costco sells 3 packs of cappuccino for $19.99 in case you want it a bit cheaper, but i agree dolce gusto costs more than other pods

  • Isn't milk pods just milk powder or whitener? It is like $5 for a big pack…

    Also don't see why you need a tea pod. Surely it is easier just to throw a tea bag in a mug and pour hot water, than running throwing this machine. Mind you brewing coffee requires around 70 degrees hot water but tea needs boiling hot water.

      the tea is not hot it's iced tea and makes a nice froth on top of the tea(most people who have tried it they liked it)

  • Awesome work conka11 : )
    Mum wanted one of these for Christmas present and I am seeing her today so the timing is perfect. Thank you

      I'd like to say "You're welcome", but you can't thank me.

      Thank 50% of the supermarket duopoly in Aussie!

      Hope she enjoys the coffee…

  • Dont think this is Australia wide unfortunately as cant even find it in my Coles !

    • We were looking for them in the appliance isle at Coles, but they are actually with the coffee and tea in that isle instead. So you may have looked in the wrong spot like we did.
      Heaps in stock at Coles Whitfords WA (Hillarys).
      BTW, The display model at Whitfords is not the one that they are actually selling, maybe the old model on show?

      • Hmm went back to Coles in Melb CBD and still couldn't find it. ANyone in Melbourne got hold of any at $49.

        • I've been to 3 coles supermarkets this month and all 3 had them for $49. I'm in SE suburbs.

          If you don't find them in coffee section, look for them on ends and displays. Look in corners of the store and the fruit & veg section as well, and the backs/fronts of all aisles.

  • Coles Harrisdale in Perth had a heap of these as of 31/12. I picked up two only to receive a docket for the last of the high fuel rebates@25c/L discount (which equates to a saving of $22 for me). Standard routine will be to return them for a refund with a plausible reason offered.

  • Some reviews from Amazon UK site (For the new Budget "Mini me" model, same as the one sold at Coles).

    There were a pile of these at North Rocks in Sydney yesterday afternoon

    Got this from Coles in Victoria Park WA and my girlfriend and I both love it.
    Cappuccino is average, but the ice tea is nice and the hot chocolates are very tasty. Tried the iced coffee one in store and it was really nice too.
    Still have a percolator and coffee grinder for a budget Cup of Joe when we are feeling cheap :-P

  • Get it quick before they put them back up….

    Looking at this post: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/129489 dated 5th Jan

    They are putting them up to $79 in the next catalogue (Which is still cheap)

    • If they couldn't clear them out at $59 or $49, they'll be there for a while.

  • Ok Finally got one on the last day at coles as they might go up to $79 tomorrow. On one side of the box it says Starter Kit 6 Capsules, I did not find any inside my machine box ! Does this come with a starter 6 Capsule pack or I guess someone in Coles took it out of the box :@.

    • Was not inside the one we bought either

      • Ok Swapped it for another box at Coles and that one did have the 6 Capsule (3 Coffee, 3 Milk) sample pack. In Addition to that successfully redeemed the Free Variety Pack Online.

  • The link for the sample pack is in the description :

    https://www.nestle.au.simplicitycrm.com/editors/content.aspx…

    For some reason they stopped putting them with the machine and you now have to claim online. They didn't change the packaging though which causes the confusion.

    • Thats correct, looks like its a mix of stock.
      I got the White and Grey one and that did have the Sample Pack included along with a flyer to redeem another pack online !! So thats 12 pods for free !

      • You might get lucky and get an extra 2 boxes in the sample pack, like you I got the samples in the machine, but I also claimed the online ones, they sent a bonus of 2 extra boxes (1 hot choc and 1 americano).
