Exactly the same price at BigBrownBox, but with free delivery - http://www.bigbrownbox.com.au/panasonic-viera-th-l50em6a-50-…

From putting in a few postcodes, HN want to charge $49 (?!?) for delivery. The BBB deal craps all over this unless you can pick up, even still after dealing with BBB I'd take them over HN any day of the week.

    • I can't see why you can't pickup for free from a HN store. All you need is a ute or small truck :)

      • +3

Well of course.. But not everyone has a ute or small truck do they? If you need it delivered, go to BBB.

        • Is it really that hard to fold down the back seats at put it in there?

        • Are you suggesting laying down the tv in the back?

        • Not good to lay down and transport any large piece of glass. It flexes.

        • I'm not suggesting anything. In my opinion transporting the tv in the back of a car is not that hard to do.

        • You don't necessarily lay it down you can keep it upright against the back seat. I have done it before with my previous Sony 40' and it got home in one peace. :)

        • +1

I too managed to fit a 50" in the back of a Honda Jazz without having to lay it down.

        • Big difference between a 40" and a 50" though. It's not so much being able to fit in it the car, it's actually getting it into the car. Hatches are normally ok, good luck with a sedan though.

I remember years ago when I got my 40" LCD and had to take it out of the box to fit it into my car, this was a sedan M3. Recently transported my (well now his) 50" Panasonic plasma in his Ford Focus hatch and that was an absolute pain to get into the car, simply because it was too tall to fit in through the door, and no way in hell were we laying it down.

For the sake of being safe, just get it from BBB. You'll have it within 2 days, and don't have to give any money to f***ing Gerry.

        • Yes it does vary on what type of car you have. I rarely shop at Harvey Norman due to the inflated prices.

  • "blinks the backlight twice for every 50Hz frame"

    WTF a blinking TV

  • Many LCDs don't use continuously-illuminated backlights (for a number of reasons: energy consumption, PQ considerations, diode life, etc). At 100Hz - about the same frequency as a fluoro light (which is 2x input frequency) - the blink is faster than the human eye can perceive.

Ps - I didn't down vote your comment cryptos (that's not how I roll).

    EDIT: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/pulse_width_modulation.…

  • i don't understand how tv's are so cheap these days!

    • Demand has dropped for TVs on a worldwide basis over the past 2 years. That has to have something to do with it. 3D and 'smart' hasn't been the cash cow they had hoped. 4K (Ultra HD) transition is being made now to keep those margins high(er).

The most interesting thing to me personally is 4K video in a cheap camcorder (and of course a cheap 4K display…).

  • Only two HDMI's? That's crazy.

It'll take a lot to make me upgrade from my 42" Panasonic plasma.

    • +1

Can't be too true an OzBargainer if you don't already own an AV reciever with plenty of HDMI inputs ;-)

(They're always going cheap in deals!)
