  • any comments/reviews on this one?

  • shame that it's not a 3D one

  • I purchased one of these for my folks six months ago and it works a treat. Think I paid high $80's, again from the Good Guys.
UI is a bit obscure for the media centre bit but after writing them a couple of pages of instructions the folks love it. Use it for watching movies and for showing friends pictures from their recent holiday - I haven't had to endure the latter to this point.
I recall doing some research prior to buying it and found that reviews were very positive, for what it is and costs, particularly the 3-year warranty and the ability to play a number of formats.

what file formats can it play from USB ?

I don't understand why people neg comment very easily! Some people just need to chillex a bit and go easy with the neg button or they'll pop a blood vessel in the head. Here's a + for you JV!

So does it play MkV file from USB? I don't have a Bluray player since all my movies are in Mkv but if it's cheap like this I might grab one.

        From the Laserco site:

        Media File playback: JPEG/GIF/PNG/MP3/WMA/AAC/AVI(MPEG-4/Xvid)/MP4(MPEG-4/Divx/Xvid)/H.264/AVCHD/MPG(MPEG1/MPEG2)/FLV

Sorry, trying to juggle OB and work requirements this morning

        • I think you'll find it only plays back those files from an optical disc and not from USB

I have one of these (got it as it is one of very few blu ray players that still has component output - very important for those with older TVs that don't have HDMI).

It works well enough as a basic DVD/BR player, though it lacks certain features (no slow motion or frame advance for example).

The media player function is very basic with no facility (that I can find) for accessing menu items (so if you have backed up a DVD to USB and try and watch it from there, none of the DVDs menus can be accessed, and if it doesn't autostart, to bad - you will be stuck on the disks start screen with no way of pressing "play").

    • So it doesn't have an autostart feature? Wow - that's a deal breaker for me because I have quite a few BDRx files as well. Cheers!

  • Good deal. I paid $77 from the GG's for it about 3 weeks ago, was $79.

  • Is this already expired? showing up as $89 for me.
