Some uses for PeakHour:

PLEASE if you are having problems with PeakHour interacting with your router, contact us so that we can assist you. We have a growing troubleshooting FAQ and extensive documentation at support.peakhourapp.com and we're always available at [email protected].

  • Can some one explain what this does .. does it basically get your router to route traffic to you mac so this software can analyst it? Therefore your mac needs to run all the time to record / log this data? this would add lag to gaming?

    • Yes, your mac needs to remain running for it to monitor your router… Don't think it will add to lag, It monitors via SNMP or UPNP protocol of your router if it has that capability.. (latest Airport Extreme has disabled SNMP)..

If you want to see if this will work with your router, try this: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/peakhour-compatibility-check…

To add to this - No it isn't routing traffic to your mac. It's getting your mac to gather network statistics from your different network devices.
these stats are captured by the devices themselves and the app gathers the info and translates them into something useful
Your mac only needs to be on if you want to continue monitoring or are using it for something else ;)

    • it does not lag your online gaming. it's just like any other bandwidth monitoring tool. if your mac is offline, it won't be gathering data.

bought this previously and it does not work with my device (netgear dgnd3700) even though the compatibility checker says ok. contacted the support and they gladly refunded my purchase.

  • Newbie question - can I use this to monitor how much data each item on my network is using? (IE my kids laptops/phones etc?)

Or do I need something else? I'm running a Billion 7800N on OSX 10.9.1.

    Cheers.
