Regarding Tomb Raider: I bought this during the last Steam sale ($9 I believe) and I just wanted to say: do it! Buy now, no need to think later! I've never played a Tomb Raider game before, but I was hooked on this! I played it non-stop from start to finish (with the exception of breaks for pizza). Absolutely brilliant and highly recommended! It's my GOTY.

I loved the Tomb Raider games from early PC days years back but I think this version is the best. Paid $20 previously and thought it was worth every cent even at that price. No brainer at $5 for anyone who doesn't have it.

    • +1

I think I must be the only person who didn't enjoy the game that much, but then I didn't enjoy Far Cry 3 either so much I just suck at liking popular games.

      • +5

Far Cry 3 is my GOTY.

      • +1

I'm forcing myself to play through it. Kinda just wishing it would hurry up and finish already.

It's not that it's a terrible game - just a well done, mediocre gaming experience. My Steam list beckons…

      • Did you try the coop? That alone makes the game for me. Single player mode was just a bonus.

    • +2

Mmm…I've just started Tomb Raider…only at the 2nd area (excluding the starting cave), and I've been kept on my toes quite a bit already. Good game (not to mention this is my first Tomb Raider game).

  • Hmmmm already have mass effect 2 and 3. Is it worth it to buy the trilogy for the DLC?

    • +1

No. The page lists DLC that is, and always has been, free - with the exception of Pinnacle Station for ME1, which is absolutely terrible anyway. If you want any of the good stuff (or anything at all, in regards to ME3), you'll need to buy it from the BioWare Store (which can end up costing a fair bit).

      • That sucks, seriously why don't they release a legendary or GOTY edition with everything included. I'm gonna just go ahead and blame EA.

        • Yeah, its a shitty system, really - such a ripoff and completely user-unfriendly.

  • +3
  • Thanks OP pick up Dark Souls.

    • +1

Be warned the multiplayer servers will be shutdown in March as it uses GFWL

  • +2

Was so excited for Mass Effect that I didn't realise it was for Origin before I bought it.

    God. Damn. It.

    • +3

Mass Effect 3 can't be played without Origin.

It's unneccessary, but it's not annoying like GFWL or Ubiwhatever.

  • Which ones are steam-redeemable?

    • +2

The ones that say DRM: Steam under the title on the Amazon page.

I should have looked at that before trying the cd key 10 times in Steam.

    • Look at the DRM below the game title

  • Some of the Lego series prices are lowest or near lowest prices.

  • +2

Just an FYI to a lot of people, most if not all EA keys are redeemable through steam and origin. I added mass effect 1 and 2 to origin a few days ago. Unfortunately ME3 isnt on steam.

  • Great find OP. Just got 2 copies of AC III.

  • So what is the drill with the US address??

Do I need to quote a US address when checking out? Do we make one up ???

    • Just your shipping address

I just my hopshopgo address. Many just use things like hotel addresses.

  • Great deals. ME trilogy is exceptional value. I paid $40 for it.

Beware though, ME3's DLC totals up to $50 USD. I highly recommend you at least get From Ashes and as early as possible because it adds a new squadmate who has cutscenes and interactions with the rest of your crew. Also Citadel is awesome. It's a love letter to ME fans.

Probably the same price for ME2 DLC.

    • No, ME3 DLC is far more expensive. Omega and Citadel are both 1200 points, the rest is 800 points or 160 points. The most expensive ME2 DLC is LotSB at 800 with the rest of the story DLC at 560.

Can someone advise me which version of tomb raider I should get?
    Options:
    Amazon version $5
    Steam vanilla $10
    Steam survival edition $11.59
Steam Tomb Raider Collection $13.99 which does not include survival extras or digital book or Guardian of Light (so not really the complete collection)

I hate when companies dick around like this. Reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HH75OT9vc8

    • +1

Amazon version. Why pay double? The extras are worthless btw.

I'm not sure what's in the Collection. If it includes everything, then get that one. In terms of value it's the best, but the older games aren't worth playing anyway.

      • True, but I get to increase the size of my steam library (pile of shame).
Collection doesn't included everything. And I've been trying to limit myself to not spend more than $10 on games.

    • +1

The amazon version activates on Steam so it is the same as the vanilla version but saves you money. I feel the DLC for this game isn't worth it as it's all focused on the crap & dead multiplayer mode.

  • Also looks like we get $5 credit to spend on 2013 editor's choice games.. Unfortunately promotional credits only sent out after Jan 3 (when the sales are over)..

    • I believe they will have sales on the editors choice games.

  • +2

I just wish the EA stuff was on Steam. I want the Mass Effect Trilogy but I dont want games elsewhere except for Steam.

    • +1

Alas ME3 MUST be played via Origin, you can't get around it.

  • It is annoying having to have separate frameworks for Steam, EA, Ubisoft and whatever else. I wish everything was DRMfree like at GoG, but then one would still need some kind of multiplayer/coop service.

  • +1

Just a note: it looks like the mass Effect collection isn't complete, and lacks most of the addons for ME 2 & ME3. I guess that's why it's cheap - you entice people to purchase the base game and then charge full price for the DLCs. Hopefully in a year's time there will be a complete collexion for the same price.

  • Nice list EC, I thoroughly recommend Tomb Raider it was awesome fun.

The best deal I have got so far has been LEGO Marvel Super Heroes for $11.99USD (normally $29.99USD on Amazon)

    • +1

Thanks spiritek , you are usually the amazon game deal poster :D posting all those great deals !!

      Added the Lego game

      • Yeah, I think more people are watching amazon and beating me to posting

        • I saw the deal on slickdeals and posted it here for my fellow ozbargainers

No don't delete your other addresses. I have 2 billing addresses, one for digital game purchases and for my normal delivered purchases. You can just switch between the two.

  • Thank you ju2au, managed to download! Merry Christmas.

  • +3

WARNING: This is a regular scam regarding the Mass Effect games. They almost NEVER drop the price of the DLC and it ain't cheap, at all. The DLC to make those 3 games "complete" would probably cost you at least $70. They are bastards. No GOTY editions either.
Example, Mass Effect 2 for PS3 was arguably the closest to a GOTY they've made (missing only one DLC) - it was made, what - 4 years ago? The one piece of 4 year old DLC is still $10.35 to buy right now, more than the cost of all 3 base games.

Lure em in, it's working well for them.

    • That's just EA at work. EA loves DLC and charging a lot for them.

ME1 was pre-EA, there was only 2 DLCs, and only one of them was story DLC (and a non-essential side story at that). The other was just a wave based survival mode with no story component to it and skippable.

ME3 has 4 major DLCs: From Ashes, Omega, Leviathan, and Citadel. Those total $50 USD. Expensive, I agree. The rest are either multiplayer bonuses, or a comic for people who didn't play the original game.

Another annoying thing EA likes to do is retailer specific preorder bonuses. There's a whole bunch of other extra weapons and goodies depending on where you preordered it and you can't get all of them unless you bought multiple copies of the game (or you're a pirate). Some weapons are awesome.

      • Another annoying thing EA likes to do is retailer specific preorder bonuses.

I'm fairly sure all pre-order bonuses made their way into one DLC or another, in the end.

        • Some were, some weren't. The ones that were, were bundled into story DLCs that didn't release till months after the game, long after you're done with it.

Preorder bonuses are most relevant when the game is new, and people are playing it..

  • The Max Payne pack is awesome, thanks ;)

  • Made my Las Vegas address my primary address but it still doesn't work :(

    • When you go to buy/download and the buy button is greyed out, above your address there should be a link to change it, do it from there and you should be OK.

    • Has to be your BILLING address, not your postal address.

  • Max Payne is back to $20.

  • You can get the Sonic Everywhere Pack for $15. Damn good value! :D

  • Hey when does this finish?

    • The whole sale wraps up on the 3/1/2013 (4/1/2013 in Australia), but some games are available over certain times, you can check the details out on here
