Blackwolf Turbo 240 Plus (2013 Model) Tent $999.95

70

Hi All,

I've been a long time observer on OzBargain and since I managed to get this awesome deal, I felt the need to share it.

I was in the need for a new tent and started doing some research. Always knew that you can't beat a canvas tent. The old man has an Oztrail Tourer 9 which goes well but a little bulky. So after some research I found the BlackWolf tents. There seems to be a lot of excellent reviews on these tents. Very easy to put up, strong, weatherproof and the lifetime warranty all had me convinced that this is the tent to buy.

A little heavy on the wallet but at this price I believe it's a bargain.

PS: I managed to get this pricematched at Anaconda. They beat it by 10% which was even better. Kellys had only one in stock btw. Anaconda will call them to check on stock and model before price matching. PM me if you need a receipt.

  • Is this the same model as this one? http://m.ebay.com.au/itm?itemId=260998872438

    • your link doesn't work. There is a Lite version and a Canvas version. The version the OP if referring to is the canvas one.

The ebay link works but shows a 16.5kg tent. The one that OP is listing is 27kg. So not the same material… lite plus vs canvas.

  • The next cheapest I can find it for $1059 at kangaroo tent city.

    • +1

Nah $1059 is for the Turbo 240. The one in the post is Turbo 240 Plus and tent city has it for $1219

I checked Kagaroo Tent City before purchasing. I was actually going to get the 2012 model for $960 since they have a clearance sale. But then I stumbled across Kellys Camping. Got a 2013 model for cheaper than the 2012 clearance price :)

BTW - the difference is that 2013 model has the big awnings on the fly. Provides plenty of shade and shelter compared to the older model.

    • lol that has to be a pricing error 50 of those mats shipped will only cost ~$20 all up with regular shipping for me

      • I bought 5. About $12 postage for me. They better honour it!

      • I brodened 100!

        • +1

          I bought 100 also :)

Will see if they honour it…

They have accepted payment so there is now a contractual relationship.

Not sure if they have a 'price error policy'….maybe worth someone looking.

I doubt the ACCC will find in our favour if the store cancels our orders and anyone complains. They just have to say that they did not know their price was '0', and that it would not be reasonable and fair to simply allow the store to loose however much $$ because of a error outside of their deliberate intention.

1/ Intention to create legal relations = obviously because its a retail outlet..

2/ Invitation to Treat = The stated price

3/ Offer = Our offer to pay for the item

4/ Acceptance = The websites acceptance/processing of our payment + receipt

5/ Consideration = the price paid ($0) "need not be adequate, but must be something" —— so there may lay the problem for us , no consideration, if we were able to pay a few cents for each (or even a peppercorn) we would have more rights.. and I doubt that the cost of delivery would be consideration.

          and

The agreement may fail due to an argument of "no meeting of the minds" :)

          Anyway…we will see..

        • +1

As I expected..they rang me and offered them to me at 14$ each lol.

          Girl said computer glitch..sorry..

So no point arguing because legally there was no sale..due to absence of consideration (payment).

          Oh well..

          I got refund of postage.

          Cheers

If you are in Brisbane you can get a better price at great escape camping

You could even get anaconda to give you the 10% off price so only $891.
Fantastic tent. We have the 300 plus.

    • Nice find! I missed out on $8 :( That's heaps in OB world :-)

1k for a tent.. I didn't know you could spend that much on one!

  • I've done plenty of camping under canvas in the old days.
But its hard to dry properly, and goes mouldy if you don't.
And heavy! Much prefer nylon now, or even a decent polyester one.

Hey all, I've had one of the 300 plus's for a couple of years now and it is an amazing tent albeit very expensive.
    Couple of thing to note:
    1. The canvas is a new style of 'turbo-canvas', which isn't exactly like the old canvas tents and is a polymer based product but still just as hardy etc. (This is for normal versions, not sure what the 'lite' versions are like)
    2. This price is good but not great, its hard to get them at a great price but I managed to get the 300 plus for around 800.
    3. the blackwolfs have a limited lifetime warranty, as long as you peg/rope it down properly they will replace it if it gets damaged - I did manage to bend one of secondary poles early on and they shipped out two replacements no questions asked.
    4. If your not looking at spending so much I'd reccomend the Coleman instant up 6 or 8 man, while the material isn't as good they are still a steel based pole instant up, and a lot of my friends use and like them - kellys had them recently for ~280….

I've also had my Turbo 300 for a couple of years now, i bought the super fly and mesh fly with it also, have to say once the super fly is on its over 6 meters in length and has plenty of room for me and the missus, i also have one of the soft mats with like a shiny reflective underside for the floor that make it nice and warm to stand and sit on (from Rays Outdoors) and 2 XL Camp stretches that fit inside the tent.

But yes they are expensive, but in my opinion worth it, they go up very quick and dry out quickly too and are very sturdy in high winds. I guess if it's something that will get used a lot it's worth splashing out on something decent, rather than go a little cheaper only to have problems with it, if it's rainy or windy.

Keep an eye out for Aldi, because they occasionally stock the poles that are pretty much identical to the one's that Black Wolf use, i bought a couple as spares just incase one broke whilst camping, and there cheap to buy but good quality.

And also do as the instructions say and pre-soak the whole tent to seal up the seems, whether it needs to be done or not i don't know but i did it anyway.

  • Cheaper then a house, but i think i still need to take a mortgage for my expensive Collection !!

Turbo 300 canvas here. Best tent for touring, up in 2 minutes.

  • Had an issue with some punctures/holes in the fly. Tent itself is fine. Not sure how they got there.
Took it back to Anaconda and Blackwolf has assessed it as faulty. Sent me a new fly within a week no questions asked. Brilliant warranty on these, pretty happy with it.
