Telstra Pre-Paid Micro SIM for iPad - $10 (Usually $30) - Australia Post Stores - Inc. 3GB Data

180

Australia Post at Docklands, VIC, is selling the Telstra "Pre-Paid Micro SIM for the iPad" for $10.

It usually sells for $30.

The package includes 3GB of data for 30 days.

They had other pre-paid SIM products on sale too, but prices weren't marked, so I don't know what the discount was on those.

This price isn't listed in their catalogue or online so I'm not sure if it's store-specific or Australia-wide.

The deal ends 24th December 2013.

  • Can this be used for android phone? I mean the data.

    • Wouldn't see why not? Nothing locking it to Apple product

      • Telstra can see the IMEI of the device you are using, if it isnt a Apple IMEI it will revert to the higher data price charge.

    • I imagine it would work with any device that takes a micro-SIM. The package contains ONLY a micro-SIM (not one of those dual-size SIMs). There were also 2 other packages of pre-paid SIMs on-sale, so there was probably an equivalent package with a full-sized SIM. I didn't check unfortunately.

      It would be data-only though.

      • Thanks. My data limit on my mob have been reached and usually I buy a prepaid broadband voucher for $50 for 3GB when it happens, this will save me $40.

You just need to buy an adapter, ebay is a good place to find them, cost around $1. :)

And yes the packs work fine in android phones/tabs. Its the only way I buy all my mobile data now. Can't beat 3gb for $10 when travelling, and its awesome that you get 4g too. :)

You just need to buy an adapter

Depending on the phone, you might not even need that. You can just slide it into place so that the metal pins make contact. This is how I did it on my Nexus S.

    • By activating the Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband iPad offer, you acknowledge that you have purchased a Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband iPad Starter Kit , and the iPad micro SIM provided to you in this Starter Kit can only be used in an approved Apple iPad device. If you use your iPad micro SIM in any other device, you will be automatically charged the standard Telstra Pre-Paid Mobile Broadband charges as set out in Our Customer Terms based on your most recent recharge denomination and you will retain your existing recharge expiry period until you recharge again

Also FYI: It will work in a mobile broadband device but only for 700MB of data.

      • How many prepaid sim card can anyone buy? What I means is keep buy new one.

I use these sims in my telstra 4g mobile broadband device and always get the 3gb and not 700mb. I know theres posts on Whirlpool about Telstra somehow identifying that people weren't using them in iPad's and then cutting back the data allowance, but I understand this is pretty rare. I've been using them for 7 - 8 months and getting the full 3gb without any issue.

Been doing this for months now, just put the APN as using an iPad and haven't had any issues. Recharged my 4th SIM today with no hassles.

I change every month since the last 6 months. I'm using the old, first generation of Motorola Xoom, and it works like a charm. I never got downgraded to 700mb because Telstra is no way recognizing your device other than via IMEI.

        • Always get 3gb, never been downgraded to 700 mb. I guess its possible, but seems extremely unlikely.

Anyone know if this is available at other post locations?

  • I remember 3 gb's lasting to 1 wk for my android tethering. Nowa day I convert VF's 450.oo to gb-I get 11 GB & good speed for my =50¢ /day 400mb/d investment. Get it 14.25 when ½off

  • I just bought at Annandale PO in Sydney and it was $10.

  • These POs are notorious for being allocated about 10 Units stock so it may certainly feel like a bit of a treasure hunt. Contrastingly, I am rather Liking my de-branded /unlocked telstra MF60 device, on voda AU Atm.
Hooks the entire home up to 10.8 gbytes, whilst lasting <28d , which is nice. One single simple Sim serves all data / Voice functionality interchangeably, quickly send+recv these Infinite Txt's at a button click from my Hot spot web config interface / phone book.

Best advantage so far, @$1.30ea gbyte post supermarket special, it replaces most providers.

  • Has anybody spotted this deal anywhere around Perth?

So far I've tried Forrest Place & London Court (still priced at $30) and Cloisters Square (couldn't see any)

    Thanks!

    • I would like to know too.

  • Can you use the credit for Google Play purchases? (Like you can with non-iPad recharges)

    • you only get 3GB of data. You don't get any credit. Some people say that they have successfully registered them as a regular $30 starter pack that comes with $30 credit that can be used on Google play but you have to call them to do it.

  • Just got a 30 for 3gb ipad pack and two regular 30 starter kits at sugarland shopping centre, Bundaberg. Hadnplenty of stock specially of the regular pink and orange( regular and micro sim) 30 starter packs

    • Which one of these can be used as iPad sim with 3Gb of data?
      These colors confuses me a lot… :)))

  • Guys also check out the telstra prepaid thread for more info

  • I picked 2 micro sim starter kits up at Aus Post Buderim, QLD for $10ea, hand for the heads up!!

  • Bitches at Aust post got on there high horse and said only one pet customer per day. Not coz of the price but due to the id system. I had to fill out paperwork to buy it.
