Apparently tough times for many TV manufacturers.

Nearly 2 years old that news…
It was news to me.
"It has now decided this strategy has its limits, and production of TVs at the Gifu factory will end by September."
So it's been just over a year of non-production if that's accurate.
Here's some fresh Panasonic news for you:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/mediatechnol…
The TV's are still in production, but it's done by a cheapo importer, Tempo Australia.
They have used the brand name for around a year now. I guess they pay a royalty or something…
Not exactly fresh news. Been known for a while.
Online reps confirming the discounted price, does anyone know if this unit is made in japan??
$399 now

Probably re-badged junk.
May as well get a better featured Kogan or Soniq for the same price.
A salesman told me a while ago that these were no longer made by Hitachi. Said that Hitachi sold the right to use their name on TVs.
This looks an awful lot like a rebadged 39" Medion.
Probably because they both come out of Tempo
Now that you mention it… it does too..
i got a feeling the real model number is this

.
Can't be that one as the Dick Smith Hitachi has
HDMI input - 3
USB input - 1
the BingLee Tempo Hitachi only has 2 HDMI inputs
..
HDMI Input(s) N/A
……….
Doesn't sound too good….
