EBGames Mad Monday Direct Link

There really isn't any one special bargain, but as a whole it isn't too bad. They are basically intro prices at BigW. Also I wasted my time in MSPaint compiling this. Damn EB can't just have save as pics anymore. Going through the elements would of taken longer. /Rant

Edit - Also hourly deals from 10am - 5pm. And if you don't get your order by Christmas you will get a $20 gift card.

Stand out deals

360/PS3
Fifa 14 $48
NFS Rivals $48
Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag $55
CoD Ghosts $68
GTA 5 $64

Wii U
Mario 3D World $68

Am I crazy for actually thinking of getting the Xbone bundle? Missed out on the PS4 and the wait is too long now lol ;(

    • +3

Than again, you've been waiting for PS4 for abour 6 years now, since you got your PS3. So wait a bit longer

    • Crazy, dont be stupid please.

  • +7

Mad? Should be renamed to Sane Monday!

    • +8

They're not wrong, you have to be mad to think that EBGames have good deals.

  • Picked up Mario 3D World from Big W for $68 today.

  • +15

How does EB 'refurbish' their iPads and stuff? An Apple Refurb means new screen, new battery…. Does their refurb mean 'we pressed factory reset and wiped the screen'?

    • +3

Probably. If it didn't have a proper charger, they'll supply you with a cheap chinese knockoff.

Stuff like this. They aren't really going to refurb them properly. Costs too much.

    • I asked in-store about how they refurbish their Nintendo Wiis and yes, they press the 'reset' button.

      • +3

Yeah, refurbish is just a better sounding word for "second hand"

  • Is the ps3 500gb bundle any good? Wouldn't mind getting GTA and maybe The Last Of Us.

  • I can't even check the main site to look at their products.

  • +1

    $297 250G xbox360 + preowned kinect + 10 games so cheap

  • -1

yawn same old rubbish. I'll add too that the price for the Mass Effect M-6 Carnifex at AUD$555 (save $50, so normally $605) is ridiculous. ThinkGeek has it USD$400 with free shipping at the moment (https://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f2da/?srp=7), and Saga Central has it for AUD$500 with free shipping within Australia. (http://www.sagacentral.com.au/content_common/pc-mass-effect.…)

As for the games, you're not giving me anything better than what Steam can do.

    • Yeah, because ebgames only sells PCgames.

      /s

      • -5

Yeah, because that was totally the main point of my post…

Plus if people can + for good xbox prices, people can - for pc prices. Fair is fair.

Fact of the matter is that the EB price for this item is significantly more, on sale, than that of two different retailers at their normal price. That is by definition NOT a bargain.

      • -2

Yeah, because that was totally the main point of my post…

Plus if people can + for good xbox prices, people can - for pc prices. Fair is fair.

Fact of the matter is that the EB price for this item is significantly more, on sale, than that of two different retailers at their normal price. That is by definition NOT a bargain.

        • +1

That particular item, and possibly others in there, may not be a bargain. And, by all means point these out; doing so is useful to others. But 'negging' an entire deal consisting of dozens of items, and rotating deals of even better value than the face value, which 'do' feature good value on some/many if not all items - on like for like competition - seems like throwing the baby out with the bathwater to me.

People giving a 'positive' are saying there are good deals to be had in the sale - if not all the deals are the best out there.

People giving a 'negative' are saying there 'aren't' good deals to be had in the sale - and basing this on a subsection of the sale.

Only one of these statements is true, or useful.

        • -3

You could also argue the opposite - giving a positive vote for a whole deal that contains very poor prices for some items is the same thing. Unfortunately all we can do is pos, neg, or do nothing. To me, having an item on sale that is over $50 more expensive than a competitors normal price is worthy of a neg.

If you want another example, they have Skyrim on sale for PC for $28. I bought the Legendary Edition on Steam last week for $17.

Another example - Mass Effect 2 on PC.
          EB Games = $19.00
          Origin = $9.99

        • Therein lies the problem. An educated buyer can see which deals are deals, and which aren't. To me the 'positive' just says there are deals but know your prices - though i agree, it's subjective. The 'negative' says in bold letters 'it's a bad sale, steer clear'.

If i were to look at the neg, take it at face value and steer clear, i'd end up paying $20 more for Assassins Creed 4 PS4 version (hypothetically). Anything from $15-25 more for GTAV. $11 more for 32 mega Vita from next cheapest local etc - comparing like for like.

To me there's more disservice in saying 'steer clear' via negative to a mixed lot than there is saying 'there are deals, but not everything is cheapest; know your prices, but it's worth a look' with a positive and possibly this (albeit fairly common sense) caution attached.

ed: I didn't neg btw; that last comment - wouldn't do that to someone i'm chatting with.

        • -5

No worries mate, there are some incredibly immature people on here who just like to try and silence others. All good. :)

I do understand what you're saying, but to me there's no chance of that happening as there's what, 114 pos vs 2 neg. I'd argue the 2 negs just say to people 'yeah it's good, but be wary too'. I understand there are savings to be had but at the same time, to use my Mass Effect gun example, by blindly buying from eB you'd be spending at least $55 more than you'd need to.

  • +4

Does the online EB games remove the factory seals from games, selling them second hand at "new" prices?

    • That's called 'fraud'. Really doubt it, but possible.

    • I've never had that , but I'd strongly avoid getting anything second hand delivered just incase

  • Ha, so now some hero is negging all of my comments because I don't think this is a bargain. Real mature.

    • pot calling the kettle black there…

      • Err…how? There are clearly items that are not even even the same postcode as 'bargain', which I've proved

      • -2

        Real mature.

        That's how

        • So my pointing out immature behaviour is immature. Rightyo sport.

Also note how I've totally negged all of your comments too.

        • -2

          Go ahead I couldn't care less :)

        • +1

Kinda missed the point there - I have no interest in negging people for petty reasons. I made a post that showed exactly why I was negging the deal, and hoped that fellow Ozbargainers would therefore avoid the items in question and get them cheaper elsewhere. Now I'm being negged I don't even know why, hence the post about maturity levels here.

But hey my mistake, I thought this was a site about trying to help out others by sharing bargain information, my mistake.

        • -1

it's not your mistake at all, you've made your opinion clear and personally I appreciate that…

  • +2

    So average.

    • +1

There's some mediocre deals, there's some good deals. Like most things know your prices and if there's something you're after, have a look.

I paid $84 for a 32 mega vita card last week. These guys are selling it for $73. $11 is $11.

There's a few other deals in there beats local like for like.

  • +2

    Pretty terrible sale.

  • Picked up the 16GB Vita deal. Pretty decent considering the 16gb "mega pack" is worth around $60 on its own

  • Red dead redemption price looked alright… Although it is a pretty old game now, so I'm sure it's that price somewhere else
    $19 std: https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-146750-Red-Dead-Redemptio…
    w/ DLC $28: https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-155647-Red-Dead-Redemptio…

    Pretty bleh sale overall

  • Got the Gamecom 780 headset + BF4 for $110

PCCG has the headset for $90 so BF4 for $15 isn't bad.

    Needed a new headset.

  • I can't get to the checkout, every time I click something it keeps taking me to that original ad about the sale.

    • Yeah it was doing that for me too, happened about 15 times in checkout. I just kept going till I got to the Paypal screen then it worked fine.

      • +1

        Yup, got it eventually.

  • +1

Diablo 3 PC version at $ 25 not too bad
    https://ebgames.com.au/pc-144939-Diablo-III-PC

    • -3

      Out of stock

      • Just checked. Shows In Stock. +$4.95 standard shipping or +$8.00 Express.
Still cheaper than $50 at Dick Smith.

      • I just ordered a copy.
It has come off the front page, but still in stock if you search for it.

      • Stoooopid neg

        • Out of stock again! FFFUUUUUUUU

        • They have stock again. This is weird they keep running out of stock and then magically finding some.

  • +1

White Knight Chronicles for $4 is the only thing I've seen that really feels like a 'ONE DAY SALE!' kinda thing, which is pretty sad. The rest is just the same old junk for $20-30. Oh, $85 for The Last of Us? WHERE'S MY WALLET?

  • What do people think of the Xbox bundles? I want an Xbox and my main use would be the kinect for just dance etc…but the idea of fable sounds good too. Are they any good or should I just buy it on ebay?

  • +5

    They've really gone mad.

Gaming Keyboards were $69.95 NOW $60.00!!! MADNESS!

    • +1

      have a snickers oldbugger..:P

  • +2

    https://www.ebgames.com.au/xbox360-154229-Far-Cry-3-Wish-You…
$15 for Farcry 3 is an awesome deal

Edit- Skyrim is also $15 on xbox

  • +2

Pretty average specials compared to other years.

  • +3

Hmm…wonder what the smallest discount is? I've found GW2 (PC) with a $1.68 discount as well as Tomb Raider: Legend preowned (X360) with a discount of $1.15.

  • +1

So eb has done something really smart, they actually hired a really high load server for the day. Yey! Also for the lucky people
    Arkham Origins Definitive Edition $42 https://www.ebgames.com.au/any/any?q=batman ( https://www.ebgames.com.au/ps3-163599-Batman-Arkham-Origins-… )

    • +1

I was lucky, until it went back to home page and I lost it.

      • +1

I had the PS3 one in my cart all the way up to paypal confirmation, then it told me out of stock, then the same thing with the Xbox straight after, got all the way to the end only to tell me sold out.

This was about 3 mins after the sale started, mainly due to their site crashing at least 5 times before i got to the confirmation page.

Oh well, guess I saved myself 50 bucks as all I wanted was the statue as I already have the game on PC.

  • +6

Also dont fall for the 3ds Bundles with Mario Land 3D, this is a Nintendo Promo, you can do it regardless of EB, your could even do it if you havent registered your 3ds.

  • +2

    https://www.ebgames.com.au/wii-140661-Super-Smash-Bros-Brawl…

SSBB is at a good price considering Nintendo's normally allergic to a number that is lower than $50

    • +1

That's because of the Nintendo Selects range released recently here, where the titles (including SSBB) were set at an RRP of $49.95AUD.

  • +4

How did this "deal" get so many positives?…

  • Just bought pre-owned Uncharted 2,3 and Assassin's Creed 2 for the PS3. Postage was $5 so I ended up saving around $10.
    Not too bad I guess.

    • +1

Yep, I saved $22 after postage. Some people are just never happy.
I do get a kick out of seeing all the comments from people hunting for bargains, then complaining about said deals.

  • Missed out on the cadet hats and halo toy. Sad day already HAHA!

  • Got an Atari wallet for $4. Like some of the Atari shirts but sizes are a bit limited.

    • I wish they sold the Atari 520ST.

  • EB Screw up, I guess you can press them on this https://c3.eb-cdn.com.au/website/images/jquerylargehero/jq_2…

    • Yeah, was interested in PG4 for $20…

      • I just bought Lego Marvels for $23 but it seems they bumped the price back up to $36

  • Looks like most of the cheap items (~$4) will be gone very soon.

  • +1

Yeah this particular online "sale" really doesn't deserve the MAD moniker, from what I've seen the game prices are either the same as the ongoing EB x-mas sale, or a dollar or two cheaper than other online sellers' current game prices (ignoring EBs shipping cost), based off some 25 games I've been monitoring. I'm not MAD EB, just disappointed.

Might buy Pokemon Y for $44 tomorrow and just hope I don't get it by Christmas.

  • Don't know if it's part of the sale but got this,

    https://ebgames.com.au/xbox-one-162958-Xbox-One-Play-and-Cha…

A few dollars discount and I might even get $20 back!

  • +1

Lots of bargains to be had here folks:

    Mass Effect M-6 Carnifex
    - EB Games: AUD$555 (save $50, so normally $605)
    - ThinkGeek: USD$400 with free shipping at the moment (https://www.thinkgeek.com/product/f2da/?srp=7)
    - Saga Central: AUD$500 with free shipping within Australia. (http://www.sagacentral.com.au/content_common/pc-mass-effect….)

    Mass Effect 2 on PC
    - EB Games: $19.00
    - Origin: $9.99

    Skyrim on PC
    - EB Games: $28
    - Steam sale last week: $17 for Legendary Edition

    • +3

You have a thing for repeating yourself across multiple posts..

      • +1

He is Captain Obvious! (oh the irony)

      • More like getting irritated that a few immature people here are trying to shut me down from pointing out really bad prices in the sale, hence trying to make sure that the message gets out despite them.

        • +1

Every sale has some bad and good posts. If there's a few items that are bargains, then it belongs here. If there's some that aren't, dont neg the whole deal, point them out (which you are doing).

If someone's stupid enough to spend $555 on a replica gun from a video game, I'm sure they'll do the research and buy the cheapest one.

People are negging your posts because if it gets -5 the neg will be revoked. Maybe some people disagree with your righteous crusade against this deal?

        • Again though, why is it that people shouldn't neg the deal if the entire thing isn't crap, just most of it, yet it's perfectly okay to pos the deal if there's one or two good items?

I have no 'righteous crusade', I was simply pointing two things - that with this item in particular, the 'sale' price is in fact significantly more expensive than elsewhere, and that the prices for PC games are significantly more than places like Steam and Origin.

If people want to pos the deal because it has good PS and xbox prices, I have no problem with that. For the same token, I negged the deal because of poor PC prices and 'loot'.

        • Given the spate of 'butthurt' threads at the moment from regular contributors who get upset by negs they see as undeserved, maybe it's better to hold off? If deal posters get driven away from the community, then the community suffers.

I don't think your neg was valid.

        • +1

I can understand that people would get upset with undeserved negs, which is actually what I'm bitching about as well, but I explained why I was negging the deal. It was based on logic and facts at hand, which indicated it wasn't a good deal. Had I been unreasonable and negged solely for it being EB Games, or if I was trolling etc then yeah fair enough neg me into oblivion. That was not the case however.

As for thinking my neg wasn't valid that's fair enough, agree to disagree. I didn't think any of the pos voted were valid, but I didn't go around negging every positive comment (or any of them). Everyone is entitled to their opinion and deserves to be heard as long as that opinion is reasonable - ie not spam, trolling, bias etc.

  • What do you guys think of the Wii U Premium deal? $428 for:
    *Wii U Premium Black 32GB
    *Mario + Luigi U
    *NintendoLand
    *Rayman
*Wii Music (not a Wii U game)
    *Some crappy headset
I missed out on all the crazy half price deals in the past couple of months, so this could be it if there's nothing better around.
Am I correct in thinking that you don't normally get NintendoLand in the new premium Mario bundles? If so, then it's a nice inclusion here.

    • +2

I'd wait for a better deal. The $279 basic bundle is better imo. (consists of Basic console, wiimote, sensor, Just Dance, Nintendoland)

32GB HDD is going to need upgrading anyway, are the Rayman, Mario & Luigi U games worth $150 to you?

      • Oh I didn't know there was a basic for $279. Just did a search and found the Kmart deal. Is that the one you mean?

        • Yep. Mario U and Luigi U are very similar games and Rayman can be had for $28.

        • +1

beakeroo's right, go for the $279 deal, the only difference between a premium and basic is the HDD space, colour, sensor and the stand. Since you are getting a sensor and motionplus remote with the $279 deal, the only difference is the HDD space and a 24GB difference is nothing. you will chew through it in no time and need an external desktop HDD connected to your Wii U anyway.

Oh, and the value of the games to you as a gamer of course.

        • Thanks for the tips guys. Tried to get the basic bundle today but EB wouldn't pricematch, and Big W had no stock.

  • Thank op. picked up a refurb Samsung S2 @ $150
    .

  • +3

Damn I want free shipping with this ebgames deal

  • +1

Get up at 7AM to buy a copy of Diablo-III and it's already out of stock.

Mad Monday, more like Mediocre Monday.

    • +2

      7 hours late …. Someone's mad

    • I checked 5am before going to work and it was already out of stock. How many copies did they have, 2?

      • +1

Last time this deal was on the site got hammered by a lot of us here at 12.01am so you were only 5 hours late.
