Harry Potter 8 Film Blu-Ray Box Set from Amazon UK - $33.42 Inc P+P (£18 UK Price)

790

Once again, Amazon UK have a cheap price on the entire 8 film box set of Blu-Rays (11 disks) - down to £18 for the lot. After VAT is removed, postage add, and exchange rates exchanged, that ends up at about $33.50 delivered in Oz.

In theory they would be here by Christmas, even with the cheapest post.

Note, this is a 1 day offer, if you want it, get in now.

I've never bought from Amazon before. Do they take paypal or only CC?
They don't like to show you shipping cost until you complete checkout.

    • +3

      No paypal.

People use different methods for doing the currency exchange, hence why its 'about' - some let the credit card do it, some amazon, some have no fee cards, and some UK accounts.

They will tell you the p+p number though, which is where I got the all up price from (then I just used the headline exchange rate). It's about £3.50, although of course the precise figure would change it you had more than just 1 of these in an order.

      • +1

Yeah 3.50 for the first item and around 1.50 for each additional. I always end up grabbing a few things because it's basically half price shipping on everything else. I really miss the free shipping to Australia though, with Vat removed aswell just didn't know how good we had it!

        • I also miss the free shipping. The amount of stuff I buy from there dropped drastically after that.

        • I usually buy more than one(some times the max quantity) and shear the shipping fess with family member/friend

Certain good price — cheapest since the collection went on pre-sale 2 years ago. Would be better if AUDGBP is a bit higher though :(

    • +2

Yeah, you'll note who posted that one too!

I was noodling around HotUKDeals, looking for xmas pressie ideas and saw this had been posted 2 hours ago - so thought I'd put it up here too, for old times sake.

Camel3 shows it's never been cheaper, and JB HiFi has it for $67.20

Thanks. I actually bought it 2 years ago thanks to your post as my kids have been fans.

  • Thanks, Bought 2.

I got this set back when it was first released. It's worth noting that it's not a very 'nice' set - it's cheap because it's 4 blu ray cases (3 normal sized and one oversized to fit the extra discs) with two movies each in them. It's got nothing on, for instance, the LotR Extended Edition set in terms of aesthetic appeal, so if you're a collector this probably isn't the set for you.

Great value though, I don't regret my purchase at all.

Just bought 1 - thanks a lot for spotting this one :)

    It's region free. Very nice.

  • It's coming up as $34.57 for me.

    • Ripoff man, that's almost $5 per movie

      • +1

Yeah man, I feel ripped hard. Gonna send a letter of complaint to Mr Jeff Bezos

Not bad price, too bad I already bought them all off iTunes for 10 bucks earlier this year when there was the pricing error. :D

    • Interestingly $75 USD right now vs $60 AUD on the Australian iTunes store. Plus it has the extended cuts which are only otherwise available in the ~$500 Wizard's Collection.

  • +1

Perfect. I've been waiting for this. Looks like it's going to be a fantasy family movie marathon during the Christmas break with this collection and the Chronicles of Narnia (from Zavvi).

  • Sounds like a good deal. Are these all the movies?

    • +1

      yes they are

  • Another thing to note is that I'm pretty sure this doesn't include the two extended cuts of the first two movies. It was hard to find evidence one way or the other.

    • +1

As I understand they are just the base movies with the deleted scenes from the disks edited back in. Smacks of some double dipping.

      • +3

Yeah, except for LOTR, the extended editions often suck anyway. Spiderman 2 was a pretty crappy movie once they added all the boring bits that were cut for good reason back in.

The extended cut of Aliens is another good example: The scenes with the girl on the planet before Ripley and crew get there are interesting on a re-watch, but they diminish the tension and mystery you feel - along with the characters - when watching for the first time.

There's often a good reason these scenes were cut.

        • Yeah Aliens was one of my favorite movies of all time but the extended cut was TERRIBLE. I don't understand how they did such a stupid thing.

I also loved Anchorman but just saw the extended cut last week. Again - all the unfunny bits were put in and it wasn't as good as the original.

I haven't found any comparison of the Harry Potter editions. But I thought people should know.

Great price. Creating some horcruxes so I can watch these again once I die.

  • Isn't it cheaper to wait for the BIGw half price sale?

    • Maybe not, on the Big W website, I can only see the DVD box set for $50.

Anyways, thanks OP, orders a box :)

  • thanks OP just ordered a box

  • Are you sure it is expired? Still says 18 pounder for it.

    • +1

It's supposed to be a one day sale UK time, which means it expires 3 hours from this post.

However couldn't set it to expire UK time, so 1 day Oz time was the closest I could get.

  • Thanks OP. Put in my cart last night and purchased ok this morning…

  • It's still valid. £14.99 after VAT deducted. Great deal!

    • +1

Oh no it's not - as I said, it died at midnight UK time. Price is back up again now.

  • I purchased this at 10.57am (30mins ago) for £14.99. Home delivered for $33AUD.

Seems like they changed the deal over just seconds later.
