Bought them for $60.99 in October, they are alright.
just alright?
I bought them in the last deal too found it hard to get good fit/sound with included tips. Couldn't stomach the asking price for comply foam tips so ordered some generic memory foam tips from http://stores.ebay.com.au/kiwispace/Headphones-/_i.html?_fsuā¦
Fit the A161 perfectly and sound and comfort are great. Not basshead headphones but with the right tips the bass is balanced and taught, more of an audiophile sound signature similar to my Audio Technical ATH-AD700s. Also ridiculously sensitive which can be a problem as it may bring out the background hiss on some sources.
Only issues are the cable's a bit thin and the writing rubs off very quick but who cares you can tell which side is which from the mic and the way the tips are slanted.
I use them all the time now.
Yea, just alright. Would be better if it was $39.99 :)
The other replyer Snuffleophegus's comment pretty much wraps it up nicely. For me, the high is great, the bass is a bit lacking but in a good way. If I use the equalizer and turn the bass up it makes it sound bad. Very compact and light, quite durable and well built (the paint work is a bit ugly though). But it gets tangled badly with its finely thin cables in the pocket.
One correction though, the L and R symbol is also engraved on the soft plastic bit just under the ear phone. And there's a nipple on the L one.
Same, was a little disappointed with them as single balanced armatures at first. They couldn't match other entry level IEMs, including the (albeit more expensive) SE215s.
With comply comfort tips both sound and isolation noticeably improved.
And at $40 + shipping they're definitely a good deal.
I receive the same email too and after looking at the reviews online decided to get a 2 pairs! All the trusted reviewers love them!
It was also time to move from up my MEE M9P's which while good entry level IEM's are little low on the efficiency/sensitivity side for my player. As well as this the accessories (mic/earphone splitter for computer/Skype, 2.5mm converter, 6 sets of eartips etc) that are included will come in very handy. :)
Also got a 2 prong Airplane Adapter from them as well which will allow me to "just say no" to the very ordinary inflight headphones! :P
Deal expires tomorrow our time so those that want some well regarded, quality IEM's at an amazing discount price ($100 normally) should probably act now!
arg .. just paid 47 for the MEe what deal 2 days ago
I must resist
must resist purchasing another pair of headphones
