    If anyone visits a store, I'd be curious to see what their cost price + $1 is for: Canon 6D body ($2199 online), Canon MP-E 65mm lens ($1149 online), Canon MT24EX Flash ($1179 online).

      The problem with the MPE65 and the MT24EX is that not a lot of places stock that gear… I'll guess they are only doing the sale on stock on hand

        I'm actually not too sure about the MPE65 and MT24ex, I have been on holidays for 3 weeks, and start back this wednesday, so I can't be sure if we have any (but we didn't have any in stock when I took my holidays, but i hazard a guess its not something we normally stock.

        But if we can order it we're happy to order it in at cost +$1 for you.

      well, the price for the canon 50mm 1.8 on there atm is $149, and its going down to $94, so 2/3 of the price. hopefully the rest of the products on sale follows suit

      That is a reasonable statement. I guess you would only have our word, and the goodwill of our reputation to go by. I don't know many more details about it since i've been on holidays, or whether or not the boss will bring out the invoices. I will most definitely ask him though and get back to you on this

    Having been in camera retail I can warn that there isn't much margin in the hardware these days… those prices on the canon batteries and 50mm are actually lower than I would have guessed….

    Anything on Nikon gear rep?

      You are right to say there isn't much margin nowadays. However I'm not entirely sure if we have any nikon super specials since i've been away for 3 weeks, but if the boss says that everything is cost price +$1, that's what im going to go with.

      I do apologise I haven't been working for the last 3 weeks :P so I actually haven't been much in the loop recently. I haven't had a look at the price list for this sale yet, so I am unable to advise you on the price of the 6d, or anything else that the boss hasn't sent to me to put up.

      Well, I guess you can only take our word (and the reputation of our stores and staff) for it and make your own judgments from the prices we have put up, or tell you when you come in. For example do your own research, find out prices from other bricks and mortar shops (ie take a look at the 700D for instance) and decide for yourself if it is a bargain.

      3 weeks ago, we had around 40+ 700D's in stock(broadway), we have a HEAP of batteries and 50mm lenses :P Obviously we will have limited quantities of stock (we're not a warehouse) but we are prepared to order in the stock for the customer at the price on the day if we run out. It normally takes a few business days to get the stock in (from the distributors if they have stock)

      I can't be sure. Each camera house is owned/run by different people so offerings, specials etc (that do not come from head office) are up to the individual proprietors. This is a promotion our boss has decided to run.

    I paid $800 ($650 after cash back ) for a 700D on Sat at camerahouse in Penrith, I rang them first to tell them about the Top Ryde etc prices and they agreed to price match but when I got there he reneged I knew these 3 other shops had them for $50 less but I couldn't have bothered driving in to save $50 so I bought it . Now it is $100 less than I paid, OUCH

      I'm sorry to hear that. Sometimes buying a camera is like Russian roulette, you never know whats going to happen in 1-2 weeks time etc and whether or not the prices will drop (this one surprised me, coming back from a 3 week holiday). Keep an eye on us in future when your looking at your next purchase of a camera or lenses etc. Our General manager is working hard to make us as competitive as we can be as a small shop vs the big boys.
