Olympus 15mm F8.0 Body Cap Prime Lens Ultra-Slim 3 Only $75.00 (Norm $99.99) Plazacameras

10

The Olympus 15mm F8.0 Body Cap Lens is a unique wide-angle lens that also serves as a body cap and a unique body cap that also serves as a wide-angle lens.

PEN cameras famously combine portable dimensions with ease-of-use for go anywhere SLR-quality imaging, and the Body Cap stays true to that philosophy. The Olympus 15mm F8.0 body cap lens adds a mere 9mm to the depth of your camera so you can still slip it into a jacket pocket with the confidence that sensitive components will be safe from dust, scratches and smears.

  • Should work with any Micro Four Thirds Format cameras.
It doesn't communicate at all with the body of the camera, its purely a 'manual' lens. No Auto focus, No communication to what focal length, etc.

Don't see it much use, with the slow lens at F8. However im sure somebody will find a use for this type of lens.
Image quality reviews on the web doesn't really praise it much.

  • +1

its a hipster type "instagram" spec lens

  • I own one of these (bought from BHPhotoVideo for USD49) it is something fun but also something that I dont use often. Image quality is better than expected.

For anyone interested…here is a review from photozone.de

In short, keep things in the centre and bask in the swirly/blurry edges

    f8 is shit isn't it?

I've got the Panasonic 14mm f2.5 on my epm1. It was about $150 off eBay, but its a proper MFT auto focus lens, and its tiny.

    • F/8 is very dim…..I have the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 on the front of my EP3 most of the time. The bodycap 15mm is really just that….a handy bodycap to have, it can be fun though.

  • It is essentially a pinhole camera.
I made one for my camera. used a drill with a diameter that I know and drilled a tiny hole in a body cap.

  • Is still available from Amazon for $49USD +shipping to Australia ($10 or so). Why is the AU RRP so much more than the US?

  • Not the best for image quality, but it's a fun lens to shoot with. Got one to go with my E-PM1.
