WOW, Almost makes DJs' prices down to every other stores…

    • Considering DJ's has always had a price match policy in place, I'm not sure how their prices have ever been a problem?

  • +1

Up to 50% sale? I paid $35 overseas for $260 hoodie at DJ. It is less than 14% of DJ price.

Myer and DJ's are both supporters of the great big new Internet tax.

Import Duty is collected and owned by the government not retailers. It sustains the society you live in.
Self-import Duty at rate equivalent to GST just equalises on- and off-shore retail competition - why wouldn't local retailers support it? For the consumer, it won't kill off-shore retailers able to source products cheaper or more efficiently.
Drop-shipping, particularly, does nothing beneficial for this country except kill local employment.

      • The governments own costings indicate that the cost of applying the GST import tax to items below $1000 will be more than the revenue they can collect from it.
Its the usual lazy retailer looking to stifle competition any way they can. If they cannot compete on price, then theres an opening for someone else who can.

Meh. The price difference problem is far greater than the 10% GST pittance. Let them have it. Then they'll have nothing else to complain about, and we might finally be able to have a rational debate about how big corporations are screwing the people in this country.
