        How hard is it to tell their website coders a few days before the sale to implement something like this:

        If orders => stock; then stop taking orders.

        Just a few lines of code could have done the trick. Obviously they just decided hey lets do a clearance without checking stock levels and sorting the online ordering system.

          Problem is they were selling stock on-line from all their stores.

          When on-line orders were made they would have had stock somewhere, only to be cleaned out by walk-in customers before the the on-line orders could be allocated and stock removed from shelves.

    I emailed TGG websales team got this response:

    "Thank you for enquiring about your web order.

    We are currently reviewing all gaming orders placed yesterday. We received an overwhelming number of orders and will be in contact with you today either by phone or email."

    I had a chat with someone today and they said they are working through the orders and figuring out stock and what not. He said they are working with a first in and first out model and there were orders where people ordered 50 of the same game. They are going to review all invoices and stock and figure out what to do by the end of this week and will contact customers via email.

    There is no point calling them or emailing them - just sit tight and see what happens.

      yeah, true - it's about $20, $50 or $100 spent on games.
      It's not much money really to worry about, if it turns up great, otherwise we get a refund.

      Hopefully TGG can learn from this and have a better stock system for online orders.
      (Which is probably hard, as they rely on stores for stock and it may sell in the mean time at a shop etc.)

          If someone is really ordering 50 of the same game thats alot of money tied up in it. Not sure if its really worth the risk cause game price fall very quick too.

    I've loved the community so far and thought its finally time to join. Thanks OP for the post btw.

    I received a call from TGG customer service centre about 10 minutes ago. It sounds like anyone who hasn't had confirmation yet will miss out, he said all games (don't know whether it was relating to my order or every game available) had been pooled and sent out. My allocated store was Moorabbin for both orders.

    The excuse was that they oversold the stock and to apologise they are going to refund my paypal account by the end of next week and send out a $40 gift voucher which can apparently be used online. Can anyone confirm whether these vouchers can be used online and what their expiry is?

      They generally issue gift cards with 12m expiry. i don't see why it would change for this.

    Ordered at around 7.40 on the first day. 24 Games (all different) and at 7.50 got the confirmation and since then haven't heard anything, no store allocated.
    Not so sure about the first in first out model. We shall see.
    I do have to admit that I will be slightly pxxxxx off if I don't even get a single game just because my order was quite big. Considering that some guys here on the forum have already received there games even though ordering after me.

        If they take long enough to find more stock the price will drop so their losses will be reduced. A few months time and some of those games will be a lot cheaper than they were retailing for outside this sale.

        Maybe they can even buy them back from the Broden on eBay.

    This is going to get interesting. People will now start hounding TGG as to why they only received a refund and not a $40 gift card too. You would think if they do it for one they would do it for all. It must be proportional to the number of games you had originally ordered. There is no way they'd give a $40 gift card to some one who had only ordered one game.

      Pulled the same stunt last time they sold stock they didn't have. Majority never got a gift card - these mysterious gift cards are like xbox ones - few and far between at the shitguys………..never saw the full terms and conditions for the last mythical gift card on this forum either but hey this year tony abbot will be coming down everyone's chimney in his santa gear on Christmas morning giving away free health care for life. Where did I see this fact - well it was on this site so it must be true………..

      I only got a $20 gift card for an order of 3 games. They shouldn't pretend they have stock that they don't actually have. Still 20 bucks is something i guess. This is why I generally buy from online UK stores, their prices are generally cheaper and generally they have the items in stock, as advertised.

    Still waiting for my copy of Pokemon Black 2 that was dispatched on Tuesday from Toowoomba, i live in Brisbane. At least i think it was dispatched as i had a lady call me not too long after i ordered to confirm my address and then had the dispatch email sent.     So I just rang my allocated store and they told me that they're awaiting for more stock to arrive from the manufacturers. Meaning that everyone, unless they would rather not wait and just have a refund, will receive their order. I asked how long the wait would be, and she said that since every store are wanting 500+ items, it could be quite a long time. She also said that because so many people made orders, Good Guys have a responsibility to fulfill these orders if a refund is not wanted. So in a way, this is good news for anyone waiting for that "package sent" email to show up in their inbox.

      Update: Got another call from head office, my copy of resident evil revelations will be sent, however my two pokemon games are going to be refunded. But they're also giving me a $20 gift card to say sorry. So in the end, i paid $12 for a good 3ds game and a free $20 voucher. Not bad :)
