yeah not sure why you wrote that to be honest.

I have my reasons for buying a TV, which I don't have to explain to you.

I think he's trying to be a smartass as you said brought instead of bought….

some people are so touchy round here.. it was a bad grammatical error that needed to be called out for his own good. sheesh! kudos on you for the bargain though

Isnt 'brought the TV home' correct use of English? You wouldnt say 'I bought the TV home'. Having bought the TV, he brought it home…for a good price.

  • Great price, I bought the same for $1900 in last July from JBHIFI

    • Yep, i paid $16xx in June this year… great TV, especially at that price.

      • +1

Just goes to show how quickly they fall in price.

    • if you mean July a year ago you probably the HX850 , better tv

If memory serves me well this tv has one of the lowest input lag and is best for gaming.

    • +1

That is correct Maverick. It has low input lag and it is best for gaming. The PQ is really impressive, was playing BF4 on the PS3. Also for Blueray it also has great PQ.

Deuce, Can you repost the invoice with the date ? I just bought the same TV last weekend at Good Guys, will go for their 30 days price guarantee to get refund of the price difference. Thanks.

    • +2

I re posted the invoice with date and store location. No problems.

Thanks mate. I'll try to talk to Good Guys again, seems like they can offer up to 120% of price difference with their 30 days price guarantee. Wish me luck

good price. do you reckon we can use this receipt to price match at a vic store?

    • +2

      Hey Andrew81,

I say give it a try, but first try haggling them down to that price and see the outcome. If not just show them the invoice.

      • Cheers. Went to JB to look at the TV and decided to hold on waiting for 4k :)

  • What's the different between this KDL55W800A and 900?

    is 900 worth the money?

    • +2

      Hey Neon,

According to reviews and whirlpool forum posts, the main thing that makes the 900 better is picture quality. When I went to go buy mine I saw them both side by side, the 900 does have better PQ than the 800a but I couldn't justify spending extra $$$ for PQ. PQ on the 800a is also great but the 900 looked better in showroom. I don't regret getting the 800a, I chose the 800a cause of low input lag and I've read that is also a great gaming tv for my budget.

      • Thanks Deuce for a quick review for those.
I'm guessing 900 is close to 800-1k more

        • The 900 is a substantially better TV. It has a significantly better upscaler, HD picture quality, and audio. The only thing the 800 has going for it over the 900 is its better viewing angles.

This TV scored poorly in the latest batch of Choice TV reviews. It was actually ranked last among the nine 55 inch TVs tested.

The Panasonic TH-L55ET60A is a significantly better buy for around the same price.

    • +1

Yeah I read as well that the Panasonic was supposed to be better, but when I looked at it at the store, the image appears more grainy than the Sony. Could just be the store settings. However, bear in mind that when the Sony was reviewed, it was under the old firmware. The new firmware supposed to have made the PQ much better.

JB HI FI can match price from Bing Lee or others, my mate of mine bought (not brought) it for $1320 this afternoon.
