They seem to have lowered this card further from the previous deal again. If you are in the market for one of these then here is another to keep in the loop.

Why the hell would you want a reference cooler over a DirectCU II design, especially when this is cheaper.
Some people like to bolt on expensive aftermarket coolers that only suit reference designs.
Reference is generally better for SLi as it actually exhausts outside the case, whereas this doesn't. Non-reference design for multiple high end cards means the case temps get very hot (which in turn makes everything hotter).
Exactly !
"Direct CU II achieves 30% lower temps with 220% the dissipation area, plus 3X quieter running than reference" - Enough said
does Asus have international warranty?
Seems like a super deal, any thoughts against buying this? I'm currently on a Gigabyte HD 7950 OC.
I would say perhaps what a while and you will be able to get the Asus Direct CU II AMD 290 for a similar price (probably cheaper), in Australia, with an Australian warranty which is likely to be a superior card to this. This is still a great deal though.
It's an excellent card. One of the best non-reference coolers around, non reference pcb and a healthy factory overclock. With a little tweaking you can push it to GTX Titan levels.
That said it is mostly overkill at the moment unless you are gaming on a high refresh rate, high resolution monitor.Gigabyte windforce cooler is way better than this asus card. Asus are notorious for crap cooling
"Asus are notorious for crap cooling" BS. Read any review and the Asus cooler is rated extremely well. Personally I've just received a Gigabyte, and I'm happy with that, but I know the Asus is also a good choice.
Where are you getting your information from? The Gigabyte windforce variants run around 10 degrees hotter at both idle and load than the Asus Direct CU II
Where are you getting yours Snoopy? It's not 10C higher at idle:
http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/zardon/gigab…
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-review…I guess it depends on where you look but for the Asus i was going off this from hardOCP
http://www.hardocp.com/images/articles/1377370038xConQyHEiO_…You need a site that reviews both cards, as different environments (case, ambient temp) can greatly affect idle temps.
Yep, i need to work on my googlefu skills it seems. Thanks.
This post is very misleading.
$523 USD which is $555 AUD plus international transaction fees which add upto $570 AUD
US $523
I don't know what you were expecting.. It's Amazon. Has it ever been in AUD?
Each bank is different, I know ANZ charges 3% but no spread on international exch rate
28 Degrees MC doesn't have international transaction fees.
Did you want the O.P. to list what it would cost depending on the way you paid? Not everyone has a very specific 28 degrees credit card.
Most credit card charges 2.5 to 3.0% extra for buying overseas.
This deal is very misleading..i don't understand why he used USD prices when clearly we are worrying about AUD prices
Go to PC Case Gear and pay $699 + shipping.
Given the title says "US $523", I really don't see how you can say it's misleading.
USD fluctuates against AUD so if you state a specific converted price, tomorrow it could be wrong.
OP is right to post in AUD.
AUD/USD doesn't fluctuate wildly bro.
At least not enough to matter for the length of this deal.
Good point
How does this card compare to the R9 290?
They're similar (partly because this card is factory overclocked), but this will be a fair bit quieter (until the R9 290 has non-reference cards).
If you can get your hands on a Sapphire TOXIC R9 280x you'll be happy, as it pars on the GTX 780 in many games…
In some games it might come close to a stock 780, but most it won't, and it won't come near an OC'd model like this one.
did you consider the price vs purpose ? ;)
That's very subjective. Sure, you can measure price vs fps, but running a game at higher details means more to some people than others.
Guys the exchange rate changed.. its now 499 USD its 554 AUD
How would this compare to the EVGA GTX780 SC w/ ACX cooler?
Very similar.
the evga is clocked much higher
Price gone up to $519.99USD ?
If this had the ref cooler I'd snap it up not sure it's the best cooling for a SLi setup, best I've seen for a ref cool 780 is $580 delivered form Amazon Germany
