    Mmm, old stock coffee.

  • Yeah, worst thing you want is stale coffee.

    • +1

Beans in the sealed bag keep relatively well though.
Its not like going to visit your uncle, who rarely drinks coffee, and has a jar of pre-ground or instant that was opened eight months ago. aaargh! :-(

  • fantastic prices for Jasper (its excellent) but I tried this once before from OW and it was OLD. Like 9 months+.
Not worth it. Cheap =/= bargain.

  • I cant believe people still buy any coffee from a warehouse type shop - surely freshness is king when it comes to coffee. Strange choice when there are so many good roasters out there doing fantastic deals - Manna, BayBeans, etc.

    • +2

For most people, International Roast is the pinnacle of excellence.

  • The current BayBeans deal is doing fresh awesome beans for $25/kg delivered! Go for this not the OW stuff.

    • Should have a go at Cafe Bianchi in Leichhardt - been roasting there for decades, happy to ship and some of the most magnificent coffee i have ever tasted. They only roast and blend what they need that week.

  • Awesome - cheap moccona for when I cant be arsed to warm up the Saeco
And $2 milk thermometers - always wondered how my technique was temp wise - am I getting hot enough. Good gift too

    • Agreed, milk thermometers are fantastic. Everyone keeps saying 'oh heat it up until the milk is too hot to touch' well guess what everyone's threshold is different!

  • Stale coffee isn't really much of a bargain.

  • So the Jasper Coffee is no good?
I was searching the clearance products of Officeworks website and found the Jasper Coffee Isabel Blend Ground 250g $4.
Thought it was a good deal so I bought a pack.
Oh well, $4 isn't going to bankrupt me.

    • It's not that Jasper Coffee is no good. It's the likelihood that the coffee was ground months ago and has been sitting on a shelf for that long. If it was ground longer than a couple of weeks ago, you will start to lose flavour and nuance… blah blah blah.
