OfficeOne A4 5 Page Shredder for $10 at Kmart (Possibly Nationwide)

490

K-Mart have reduced an A4 5 page strip cut shredder for $10. I've seen this at 3 different K-Marts in the past month and at all stores it has scanned in at $10 despite a $24 price tag - so I assume it's nationwide. It's the first time I've seen more then a few on a shelf. I counted over 20 at K-Mart Altona Gate (VIC) this afternoon.

I've used mine a few times since purchase and personally think it's been worthwhile. The motor seems strong and have only had one jam which I was able to fix quickly. It has an auto feed function as well as manual forward and backward feature. Plus K-Mart have a great return/refund policy if there is an issues with it.

Note: There is also a cross-cutting shredder that looks almost identical to this but is priced at $24.

One advantage of cross-cut that's not immediately obvious to those who haven't used shredders is the bin fills much less quickly. Strip-cut produces long strips that curl onto themselves - wish mine would die already so I'd have an excuse to upgrade.

Shredded paper is used as bedding for animals.

"Fill me in" - good one! Hahaha :)

    • Yeah, we try and get paper shreddings from people but so many people buy cross-cut shredders now for the increased security and that just doesn't work well for bedding =(

For the really paranoid - add water after shredding.

    • Or set on fire…

These are no good if you're running a business.

Unless your business is repairing Shredders…

Bills, bank statements, rates notices, anything that could be used for identity theft really.

  • I have a Cross cut shredder and it works great. Can't comment much about quality as I used not more than a couple of papers at once. I believe you should prefer commercial grade if you are using more than a couple of papers at once and test their resilience. Up to you.

I once worked for a company that shredded anything not nailed down at the end of the day. it was actually satisfying to stand there for 30 minutes shredding a trolley load of old files. especially with an industrial shredder- it did 1cm thick files.

  • Anybody spotted these for $10 in Sydney? I'd be interested in getting a cheap paper shredder.

dont use these around kids, when they see you use it, they copy you and shred every paper you own (including money notes)

    • Well.. this happened in the real world. In the news some time ago, a kid shredded many $100 notes in the value of about 10 thousands. What a waste!

  • Thank Op!
Picked one up from Sanctuary lakes today
As op stated, was marked at the normal price of $24 but scanned as $10

  • Worked in Hobart!!
