Been looking for a cheap copy of this hopefully the order goes through.

  • thanks OP

  • Thx, ordered one

  • Fishpond doing random crazy prices again, what the?

  • Holy s**t, already sold out.

  • Considering the Vita is region free and that PAL vs. NTSC has no relevance, is the only possible issue with a US version some sort of restriction on DLC? Or are there no issues at all?

    • +1

You won't be able to download dlc on an Aus psn account.

      • Further clarification please.

Does that mean any DLC/addons that came with the game eg pre-order bonuses or online passes cannot be activated on accounts from regions other than where the codes are locked to? But can you work around this by; for eg Re-purchasing DLC content of a US game through the AU PS store using an AU account?

        Or

Does that mean the game card itself is region locked and therefore any DLC purchased from regions outside where the game card is locked to are not compatible?

        Or

Like most PS3 games, DLC and region compatibility is not an issue for most Vita games?

All DLC is region locked to PSN account region.
All DLC will only function with a game card or digital game of the same region.

          To your questions:

          1. Correct. But! Whether the DLC came with or without the game is irrelevant. eg. if you buy an AU game card which requires an online pass, and you use a US account - too bad, you can't play multiplayer unless you switch to an AU PSN account.
          2. Invalid workaround. DLC will not work.
          3. No, game card is not region locked. The DLC will not work because the DLC is region locked.
          4. Retail Vita game cards are not region locked. All digital Vita downloads are region locked to the region of the PSN account through which it was purchased.

US game card? US DLC only.
US digital download? US DLC only.

AU/EU game card? AU/EU DLC only.
AU/EU digital download? AU/EU DLC only.

        • Your response is a little contradictory, but thank you for the reply :)

          DLC is region locked.

So that means the codes are themselves linked to a region specific store regardless of the account's region that is attempting to redeem it. I can easily believe that.

game card is not region locked

But if the game card is not region locked then all game cards for that game are identical (loosely speaking). So a US game card is identical to an AU/EU game card. It is only the accompanying codes (DLC & online passes where applicable) that are region locked.

Then surely if I went to the AU store with my AU account I could buy AU DLC for my US game card since it is identical to any other game card? With the exception that some DLC may not be released in my region.

          So, using Wipeout 2048 physical copy as an example (because it has both DLC & online passes);

          • Wipeout 2048 (US) + US account = will work 100%
          • Wipeout 2048 (US) + AU account = Offline will work, included online pass & bonus DLC codes will not activate because it is attempting to redeem US codes on an AU account. But the online pass & bonus DLC can be purchased from the AU online store at additional cost. This will give the game 100% functionality for online and offline.

I hope this isn't confusing anybody, but I'm just trying to confirm some facts about any restrictions that might exist :)

"Then surely if I went to the AU store with my AU account I could buy AU DLC for my US game card since it is identical to any other game card? With the exception that some DLC may not be released in my region."

As I said above, no, unfortunately it doesn't work :( The DLC needs the same region game card to function; your AU Wipeout Online Pass with AU account will be incompatible with your physical US Wipeout copy.

The game cards are not exactly identical as they retain their region of origin identity, but in general the Vita doesn't care - it'll play it anyway (ie. no region lock, cf. Persona 4 Arena) - barring DLC and Online Pass exceptions.

It's been discussed at length over in the Whirlpool Vita forums, but feel free to give it a try anyway. But do let me know if you have success - as a Vita game importer myself it would make my life easier too! :)

        • Ok, so

          • The game cards are region coded but not region restricted
          • The DLC & online passes are region coded and region restricted
          • The restrictions are based on the accounts region, the console itself is region free.

          Now I understand :)

  • +1 DLC is based on region

  • It's back in stock, just bought mine at 9:25pm

  • WTF.. this is beyond comprehension…
I bought mine form JB for $42…

  • does this game have an online pass?

  • God fucking damnit. Can't believe I missed this! :(

  • don't worry about missing it, they just cancelled my order due to pricing error =(

  • Order was cancelled. Got a $5 voucher. Last time it was $10 voucher when Tomb Raider was cancelled.

  • yea same order was cancelled too. $5 voucher with it.

    • Damn, now I wish I had made an order :)

  • Cancelled too.
