Love a good hammock. very relaxing to sleep in. A good double hammock is normally 60 - 100$ at the least, so having that steel frame and delivery thrown in for another 50-60 seems like a good deal - for those that don't have trees or poles in the right location :)

Also how far is the "drop" (from ground to your ass?)
dont want to make it on youtube trying to get out

    • It's difficult to say but from the photo and listed dimensions I'd estimate about 40 cm. If it end's up being higher you could always learn this technique :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2BG0ZWz4Vc

The drop from the ground is usually adjustable by altering the position of the bolt. I have no trouble getting in and out of mine which I brought from dealsdirect for under $50.

That looks f'n dangerous to me…

If I was over 200kg I'd think the same thing!

      • The OP says:

Can't comment on the frame quality yet.

Nor can i, but i know it's been rated by some dude in Guangdong Province. You may have confidence in that, but i sure don't.

But by all means go for it, as given no liability attaches to me, you're welcome to rupture your own frame on it.

        • I think you are being a bit alarmist.

        • if it was up to the Chinese to give it a rating, it would have no rating.

  • I've been researching these and got one last weekend at Anaconda for the same price, and looks to be the same renamed hammock we have.

To date it's excellent, can't get my wife away from it. Sturdy, easy to move, comfy.

"Sturdy, easy to move, comfy." The wife?

      • +2

That would be sturdy and painful to move.

    • Does the Anaconda one now have curved frame bars?
When I bought mine a few years ago they were all straight (except for a slight bend in the legs)

  • Can anyone comment on frame quality? My gf bought a hammock overseas, but needs a frame. Would be a good christmas present.

    • User pakkapie (above) reckons it's sturdy. By the time I get mine the deal will be over. Order one and return it if it doesn't suit you. You'll only be out of pocket for the return shipping.

      • Yeah but return shipping on 10.4kg is probably $50 :)

Sadly I'm in WA so returning to a store isn't possible.

The frame, and particularly the stand, looks pretty solid in the image.
I wouldn't expect it to give much as it breaks your former gf's back.

And make sure her private health insurance is up to date - you don't want some newbie Registrar playing with her vertebrae.

Oh darn, i think i'm being a little alarmist again!

      • If you buy me one I will do the structural analysis :p

I did an initial analysis using the product info and some assumptions. I know the diameter of the pipe and approximate lever arm of the moment. But there's too much I don't know, like information about the supports, strength of the hammock connection, etc. And often those little details are the weakest link in the system.

I didn't manage to disprove that it might take 200kg. But I can't say what it can take without having one to look at.

          Folded - 115x19x22cm

This is where you'll find the link that is weakest.
It will also bugger up your calculations.

I don't need to go back & hang with my buddies Euler & Bernoulli to see that this is an accident waiting to happen, despite the generally awesome strength properties of steel.

        • The neg wasnt me. If it folds like I think it does then I'm seeing that as a stability issue, not a capacity issue. But either way I cbf continuing this convo

  • Has anyone received their order yet? Can anyone comment on quality of frame?

    • Yep got mine a while ago. The frame is fine.

      • Does it squeak at all? And is 2.5m a comfortable length?
        Cheers!

        • It does not squeak but there is a slight amount of sideways movement (pivoting on the vertical bolts) at the joints. I'm going to fix that by putting extra bolts through horizontally.
2.5m is long enough for me (I'm only 170cm tall though) - especially if you lay in it diagonally, which is the correct way to do it! With the hammock installed at a reasonable height there's not a lot of rope at each end so it does not swing as freely as if suspended between two trees.

        • Thanks for your reply. I'll def have to get one of these when they go back on sale. Good idea about reinforcing the vertical bolts. Keep us posted if it works!
