Anymore info? I've found Harris Scarf have over-inflated 'discounts' a lot of the time.

And what's with your . jv - do you bookmark as soon as possible so you can edit down the line?

  • 18/10 or 18/0?

    • looks like it says 18/10 next to the barcode

There is not other store like harris scarfe for advertising their ridiculous RRPs and claiming massive sales with their normal prices

    • Victoria's Basement are second in line for that award

I don't know, but I was under the impression that HS doesn't get to decide what the RRP is. It's printed on the packaging.

  • Missus was able to pick up 42pc set at DJ's this wk for $50 (RRP $250). We received gift set 24 pc (RRP $200). The 24 pc felt like better quality as it was heavier, but that's personal opinion I suppose. But $50/$60 is still good value (each piece would cost you similar price at K-mart). Victoria's basement has similar items for ~$69-79 (see http://www.victoriasbasement.com.au/product/search?q=stanley…). Set would consist of something like:

    6 x Dinner Knives 6 x Dinner Forks 6 x Soup Spoons 6 x Dessert Knives 6 x Dessert Forks 6 x Dessert Spoons 6 x Tea Spoons

Off topic but.. I got a digital scale for $10 down from $49.95 at HS today. Got home, used it once and the batts died. Brother said it was probably because I was too fat that I drained it. Do I return this?

Try losing some weight first, your brother may be right…

      Normally sells for $59

      This is not a bargain

      • A good quality 18/10 42 piece SS cutlery set for $60 not a bargain? Welcome to planet smug.

        • Its not a bargain when there is cheaper somewhere for same item. Not a rocket science ;) jv is right after all. Jv=price cop

        • Simplistic rubbish. There's far more to a bargain than just price as most understand, especially when the $ differential is minor as it is in his one price from PoK. It's a bargain if the price is competitive, below regular, it's available in your area and there is adequate stock. HS has many more shopfronts than PoK for starters. Despite his claim that $59 is the "normal price" JV has no evidence that it is unless of course he runs a Staticice progam which trawls the prices of tens of thousands of retail outlets regularly. To be a "normal price" it would have to be on sale at numerous outlets for the same price over a long period of time. That is not to say that the RRP is significant. There are plenty of good deals on quality SS cutlery sets in this country at the moment.

These are standard prices at HS. Knife and fork sets are always like 80% off.

    • Yes. This is probably what someone should have pointed out first of all, instead of all the jv-isms

  • HS has everythings 50%+ off almost every day. Ridiculous prices in there. Their discounted prices are the same as the "everyday" prices in other stores.

As someone who has shopped for homewares recently I can verify just how wrong your comment is. I've spent quite a few $ in HS in the last few months and I ALWAYS make sure I know the prices competitors are offering. Don't comment if you don't know is my suggestion.

    • Yeh as said this is total bs. While the RRP prices on HS might be high you'll find that they are accurate it's just that most places wouldn't dare try selling @ RRP. HS prices are pretty much the best for most things we find there when on special. We're kicking ourselves for not buying the membership which gives an additional 10% off as we ended up spending over a grand in one year stocking supplies.

      Some of our best buys:
      1000+ TC queen sheet sets
      Stanley Rogers Albany cutlery sets
      18/10 all metal pans
+ loads of little utensils that were much cheaper than other stores
