What is an Ex-Lease?

An “ex-lease item” is a used item that has been fully tested and is operational with no faults. If the item is a computer desktop or iMac the hard disk has been formatted and operating system has been re-installed. Ex-lease items may have small cosmetic flaws found during unit production in either the packaging, the exterior case of a unit or accessories. Outer carton packaging may have superficial damage. These cosmetic flaws do not affect the performance of the unit. This ex-lease item is classified as “A” grade with minor marks.

IPhone 4 is laggy by today's standard not recommended

But if you read closely "100 features of the updated iOS 4".

Ha ha. On iOS 4 it probably works fine!

Second hand, 3 generation old phone with a worn battery for over $300. Bargain.

    • My thought exactly.
With so many decent brand new phones at $300 to choose from why would anyone with a good sense settle for an old hat with high mileage?

  • I guess it's… okay? If you absolutely need something that says 'iPhone' on the back. But really, by this stage, you'd think it would be a hell of a lot cheaper than $300.

    Hahaha ios 4

  • People are selling IP4 16GB's for $300 on eBay. This price isn't exactly Ozbargain worthy.

  • Wasn't there a 32 gb IP4 for 320 like a week before this……..

  • You can update to the latest version ios, surely thats worth something? lol

I can't believe anyone would consider this a bargain. Surely you can scrape together a bit more cash and buy a secondhand iphone 5 or a grey 5c. Sad thing is you can buy a brand new phone for $100 that is better than this in many respects.

  • Ex-Lease for $300 ahahahahahaha

  • Another cr4p deals from dealsdirect, ripoffdirect….

    Just a really terrible idea.
$300 for not only 3 year old tech, but 3 year old used tech.

If they were in perfect condition (Apple refurb meaning new battery and housing with warranty) then this may be a half reasonable deal. This would have to be half this price to be a deal given that they are ex-lease.

    • And yet there will be more then enough apple fanatics to buy them all… sad but true

The Apple iPhone 4 16GB cell phone takes advantage of over 100 features of the updated iOS 4.

We REALLY don't need a copy/paste of the old Apple item descriptiopn. Honestly, we all know what an iPhone 4 is.

Would be much MUCH more helpful to use that space to tell us about yoru deal, and why we should buy from you.

Oh, and it would be good to explain why the price is so high.

  • +1

$100 cheaper would be good - very laggy, especially post ios 5.x.

iPhone users deserve better than this. Should be cheaper.

    Joke post.

  • No warranty?

  • This is normal pricing for used apple products. My friend sold his used iPhone 4 for $500 and paid an extra $300 for a 4s. If you do this every year you can upgrade phones for $300 every year. Instead of changing the phone for $800 every 2 years, it costs you $600 every two years but you get a new phone every year instead of every 2 years. That's because apple users see a used phone for $500 to be good value. Price is perceived as indication of quality.

    • 200 - 250 is the current market price for used iPhone 4 you would have to be mental to pay over 250 unless brand new basically.

      • I'm saying if your phone is 12 months old, it will fetch $500 easily on ebay.

Just did a search on ebay for iPhone 5 16GB. The cheapest was $500 (pickup only). The rest must add delivery charges. The highest price is about $780 used. Even damaged ones that don't power on are over $200. These things have amazing resale value, so as long as you resell your phone every year, the next one doesn't cost much at all.

As for iPhone 4.. do a search for 16GB iPhone 4. $340 is the cheapest I've found.

So this ex-lease is about the going rate, or a bit cheaper. It is slightly below market value.

Do I think it's worth it? No. Is it a good deal to me? No. But I'm not the target audience. As far as going rate, this is a decent deal. Though I think these people are crazy.

  • Sadly this will probably sell very well even though it is vastly used, outdated, and lacking features compared to newer phones/iPhones, because there is a picture of an Apple on the back.

    • I know the feeling mate people too stupid to know any difference it's just the whole it's the most expensive so must be good situation. Then you got the apple logo they have nothing going for them now days personally they are not easy to use the os on the phone yes but so is windows phone or Android but to transfer contacts and photos and such between iPhone is a handful. Small screen doesn't help.

    • Not saying this is a good deal, but I still have my iPhone 4 and see absolutely no reason at all to upgrade. All the iPhones released since have been pretty 'meh' (OMG A NEW CAMERA AND FASTER PROCESSOR OMG!) and am still on iOS5.1.

Not missing out on much, and got sick of having such small upgrades every iPhone release since.

/my personal opinion and obviously isn't shared by many.

  • Since when do iPhones have USB ports?
There's a port, but I wouldn't advise trying to plug a USB cable in there.

  • Too expensive

  • still a great phone, just DON'T put iOS7 on it (too laggy), on 4S hmmm, "just" ok for iOS7.

  • way overpriced for an ancient phone.

  • Definitely overpriced!!

  • Seeing as the Nexus One, which had comparable specs to this fruit, is selling for ~$120 on eBay, I can't see why a phone of the same generation is still sold for the price you can get a brand new Nexus 4.

Oh wait, it's because of the picture of the granny smith on the back.

    • When you're able to command a price like this based on marketing alone, why wouldn't you?

Apple will continue to sell overpriced products until their users wisen up to it.
