    • Just wanted to say I hope you are okay out there - area round singo looks pretty bloody scary just now.
Father in law got an early-mark from his work at heatherbrae this arvo.
      Be safe mate

      • Thanks I'm south but I saw the fires and yes its bad. Lucky they went past me but I feel for those not lucky.

2 Months from date of purchase

    • That's not great. If its unused do you refund?

  • +3

My understanding of the deal is "Pay $99 and then get burnt by "unnecessary repairs"..

    Hell no.

    • +3

No, we will advise is any thing needs doing but you are not required to have them done.
For $99 we will change engine oil, oil filter, carry our a complete safety and brake check, and report on our findings.
We know how other operators work, and we wont force people into doing un necessary repairs. We would rather inform you on our findings and work out the cheapest option, that's if anything is required.

We even help out customers and source second hands parts to keep the price down if needed.

But if you require nothing else all you pay is $99

      Singo isnt Sydney
Pull that crap in a small town where at least a quarter of people work on their own cars at some level and there is about 2 degrees of separation at most and you are going to last about as long as a good damper by the campfire

  • 'Do pay too much to get your car serviced !!!!'
Even the rep admits we are paying too much :)

    • +1

Typo, but yes, servicing cars are getting to costly, we are tying to help….

  • What Oil and Oil Filter do you use in the service?
If my manual asks for fully synthetic 5w-40 for example, will you use that?

    • +1

We mainly use Valvoline Oil, and Repco filters. If you require full synthetic then yes, up to 5 litres

      • +2

I think it's a decent deal then for this price

        • +1

          Thank you

I remember I bought kinda this thing before from door to door marketing girl, the services station is known for tyre + car services franchise. it is $99 per voucher, it list so many thing they will do.

So I bring it there for services and after 2 hour, the mechanic told me that i need to do car injection or something for $250, i said well i dont want it, and he say, "ok its up to you but when you drive your car out from our place, and you car break down, we wont take any responsible and it will definitely cost you more than $250 cause it will damaged your whole engine.

so i ended up pay $250+voucher as i do not want him to do something with my car which will break down after drive 5km.

but no more business for: family+friend+cousin+nephew+work_colleague+neighbour+neighbour_family+stranger_i_meet_at_park,store,shopping+etc+etc

    • what does this have to do with this poor guy 1,000 kilometers from you?

  • Hmm $99 for this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109990 and let trainee do it for your car? not a deal for me….

    • -3

This $99 is a rip, I don't care what your labour cost is, the car sits there while oil drains and you spend 4-5 minutes dropping it and topping it back up. As you said Valvoline oil = $15-20 a bottle, and being an ex-repco employee the rof filters for most small cars at trade cost around $3-6 each. $49 service and I'd consider letting someone else do it for me.

That's kinda like saying the new galaxy s4 costs $600 but it costs $30 for Samsung to make. So anything more than $30 for the phone is a ripoff.

      • +2

I guess staff wages and rent and electricity and liability is free for mechanics according to that. Its not like they run a business to do you a service at cost of parts only and cop expenses themselves.

In other news girl loses legs trying to save money on diy service.

  • I'm a bit over this type of offer - I bought a similar deal through scoopon at a local Holden dealership (which I thought would have to be reputable since they are a Holden dealership). Since the car was there anyway I asked them to replace the antenna without asking the price (Manual antenna Rodeo Ute) - total cost of my "$29 service" after all of the presumable problems were cured was $900. I'm not doubting some of the work needed doing, but I really felt that I was sucked in with a cheap up front with all extra repair work being charged at about 300% of normal rates to compensate for all the smart arses (or smart people) who just wanted a $29 service then refused to get anything else done.

I on the other hand knew I had to get a few issues addressed and was happy to have this done during the service, but didn't think I'd get bent over and reamed !

I'm not begrudging this business of customers, but be warned this "type" of deal is for suckers - of which I was one.

  • Everyone can have their own thoughts, but if you cannot do a service yourself, this is a cheap option. A lot of our competitors are a lot more than $200 for a service.

And you cant tarnish everyone with the same experiences you may have had, but understand there are businesses out there that do what was mentioned above.

A lot of our competitors are a lot more than $200 for a service.

      No they aren't.

And I like this line from you in the description..

Don't pay too much to get your car serviced !!!!

You even admit your original price is "too much" and we need this big discount to avoid paying too much.

      • +4

How the hell would you know what his competitors charge? You don't live in Singleton, over an hour from the nearest decent size city, hundreds of ks from a capital.
And playing silly games with a mechanic's word doesn't make you seem smart. Only try it on a languages academic if you want to seem anything but petty.

      • Yes they do. Well said mycosys

  • -1

How much if I bring oil and filter myself?

    • Please call Lyle on 0437 788106 and I can work our a price
