Not a great deal, these headphones are regularly marked down to $20

  • +2

This headphones are horrible. I have had some of them and there is nothing positive about them.

    • +3

There was a lot of positivity around the HD201s when they came out because cheap closed headphones were all pretty crap and these brought somewhat decent audio quality to the low end of the market. But they're really hit and miss in terms of ergonomics - I had a pair and couldn't stand them; gave them to my Dad and he finds them comfy. The pictures make the circumaural earcups appear larger than they actually are.

      • +1

Yeah - I agree with Jabba on this. They're not brilliant headphones outright, but for the price they are. But that being said getting a free pair tacked on doesn't really make it at more special.

    • You must be a basshead..
Last time I tried them on, they had pretty clear and crisp sound, just absolutely no bass.

      • I would say that having "absolutely no bass", no matter what sort of music you're listening to, is a bad thing.

  • +1

No deal, headphones would likely be ditched.

KSC-75 sounds much better than this and its cheaper on ebay

  • +6

Also in case it isn't evident to all, this is the 2012 hardware Nexus 7, not the 2013 refresh which has a 1080p screen, stereo speakers, Qi support and a bunch of other improvements. My finger was on the buy button until I realised it was the older version.

    • This is just a sweetener to the 188 deal EB has had for a while. Not sure how you'd confuse the two given this price is almost 100 off the best deal for a 2013 Nexus 7.

      • I've been in America for a month and a half where these can be had for about $250-270, so it didn't seem like as big a discount as you mention. Wish I'd bought one there now I know how much more they are domestically!! Still glad the OP updated his deal to clarify it though.

    Horrible headphones

      The HD201's?

Not sure what you've been listening to but the 3 pairs I have are all fantastic. Bang for buck they were such a great buy! I nab them for $26 each brand new. Would not buy a different pair. Sound is great, very comfortable and solid noise cancelling. Not the best in that department but for the price very good.

Here's a pic of my set in front of this thread.

Vash12 is right. They sound horrible and are made just as bad as they sound. The soundstage is hollow, sullen and soft. There is not a single redeeming factor about them.

The knock off iPhone earphones for $1 sound better than these, I'm not joking!!!

        • -1

          Soundstage from $30 headphones?
          ….? Not sure if serious…
They're only $50 in Australia because it's… Australia.

The knock off iPhone earphones for $1 sound better than these, I'm not joking!!!

No way.. they sounded really crisp and clear last time I tried HD201s.

        • -1

Yeah.. no.. the soundstage is a scalable and descriptive characteristic, it's not something that a product either has or doesn't.

        • -2

So what product do you own that you can claim has soundstage?

        • +4

I don't know about the legitimacy of that photo. Perhaps that picture has been shopped. I really think you should hold up a piece of paper with your username on it. :D

      • Why on earth would you have 3 separate pairs of the same model of headphones?

        • Gifts perhaps.
It might break (if you can solder, and if it's at the plug, pretty easy to fix)
Perhaps one for every family member?

  • +10

Should probably show that its the 2012 Nexus 7 somewhere on the title or post.

  • What does it mean by the product has shop-worn packaging? Just the packaging or are these the display/refurbished ones?

    • -1

      Most likely refurbished ones
      But 100% not brand new

    • box on display, actual product kept at the back

  • Although the specs are outdated but still pretty good dealfor what it is.

  • damn I thought 2013 Nexus, that would be a steal!

  • These were $180 a few weeks ago and about $200 a few weeks before that , now its an extra $8 for the headphones. They are trying to get rid of them, wouldnt be surprised if they go down some more in the coming weeks

  • +2

Old model for not much cheaper than the new one, with some cruddy headphones thrown in. No deal.

  • Here is cheaper without headphone:
    $159 refurb.
    http://www.cfonline.com.au/index.php?route=product/product&p…

    • that is a refurbish this is new

      • Pretty sure EB games sell refurb as well.
        EDIT: Yes its refurb: whrl.pl/RdJCih

  • Bought from EB Games 'new' Nexus 7 2012 16GB for $158, shipped back next day as they were clearly not new. Shop demo most likely. Not what I paid for. Got HN deal the same week, $10 cheaper, brand new and sealed - never looked back.

  • Does anyone have an auto-rotate problem with the Nexus 7 2012 model when you upgrade to the latest android software? Auto rotate no longer works….

    • i've had 2012 nexus 7 for about half year now. no rotate issue even after 4.3 update, however i do notice auto brightness issue regardless of version. i just turn auto brightness off, solved.

  • People seem to be split on the Sennheisers, but comparing apples with apples, the HD201s are as good as you're going to get for $20 and they're fairly reliable.

  • Have both nexus and headphones. Tablet is great, headphones hmmm …just ok. Great for youtube
