  • I prefer http://www.amazon.co.uk/Casio-Gents-Solar-Edifice-EQW-M710DB…
no battery to change every 2 years
I Don't think the radio feature will work in Oz

Looks like Japan, China, Europe, North America only for atomic timekeeping.

      • +1

You can get atomic timekeeping to work in Australia, I've been syncing my GW3500B-1A for a while now. I play a high frequency sound coming from my speakers and it sync's the time for me, do it every now and then.

        • Yeah thats the only way the atomic sync works. Pain in the ass to do really

        • +1

          That sounds pretty cool.

I've got a casio watch with atomic timekeeping but dunno how to get it to work.
          Could you post instructions?

        • Had a look around, found this website. Requires java.

    Casio is a cheap watch.

    • +1

Indeed and I love it. Had Casio watches all my life. Wearing a DB2000 right now which is 20 years old.

Please also brag about your 1986 Toyota Corolla and/or Rivers suit.

        • Own a Camry not a Corolla.

      "Casio is a cheap watch"

      They can be.

Isn't that a bit like saying that Toyota is a cheap car? Oh wait, they have a Lexus range.

      • -2

They are a cheap car. Having a seperate luxury brand doesn't increase the value of Toyota's….

        • +1

Toyota as a company on the other hand is the top automaker in the world. BMW will be using Toyota's fuel cell tech. Im sure there's a whole heap of other Toyota tech used in luxury brands.

          Interesting data on depreciation.

10 year old corolla approx $5000-7500 depending on model. Brand new approx $22000
          10 year old BWM 318i approx $11000 - $14000. Brand new approx $60000

          Who's smiling now?

I would rather be driving in a 10 year old Toyota, than a 10 year old BMW. I've seen many broken down 10+ year old BMWs on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck. Number of corollas….0

I drive a current model luxury car now. To my above comment, yeah…the depreciation kills me….especially as an ozbargainer!!! My first car was the most budget of budget brands. So i've owned cars from all ranges. Both have their positive features.

Watches too from sub $100 to $1000+. Ive got an Ediface and love it.

Don't bag it cos its cheap. In fact everyone has complemented my Ediface watch and all think its an expensive watch and freak out when I tell them its Casio and how much I paid.

        • -2

What are you waffling on about? My statement was that a manufacturer known for cheap & reliable cars having a seperate luxury brand does not increase the value of the cheaper brand cars. I don't know what relevance your comparison to 10 year old BMW's has to this, and all your irrelevant calculations about depreciation.

I had Casio watches and every single one failed after a few years. Had Citizen watches and it lasted a lifetime.

  • +1

I have a Casio atomic and never had it work on the east coast of Australia (Japan and Europe yes)
I have heard the rechargeable cell can be a costly replacement.

  • $250+ for a fugly watch, from a cheap brand, with a quartz movement, that you have to play a song to in order to use its killer feature? How is this a bargain?

If you want a Japanese-made quartz movement watch, Citizen, Seiko or Orient have a tonne of selections at or below this price.
