Noticed this came down in price today probably because of the JB Hi-Fi deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118066

Does this have Standby pass-through? I had a look at Pioneer's spec page but can not find it at all.
This is what I wanted to know as well. If you download the manual from the link below, on page 28 theres a setting "HDMI (HDMI Audio)" with the options AMP and THRU. Not sure if this works in standby though, would be good if someone could confirm.

Thanks for the specs its annoying how Dick Smith provides such little information about the products they sell.
Unfortunately the amp only supports passive subwoofers, which would be a problem if you wanted to upgrade the sub in the future.
Why would they go for a passive sub? is it cheaper all up? are there many passive subs out there?
Pioneer HTP072 600W or Logitech 500w System Z906 that's the question…
theres no stock of Logitech Z906 anywhere, after sale ends stock levels might reappear!
I'd be surprised if the Logitechs were anywhere near the sound of this set. Depends on what you need though, the Pioneer has multiple HDMI inputs which the Logitech doesn't.
So this is the best band for your buck surround sound system currently available?
They seem to be price matting the JB deal for same item:

Its a good receiver.
