Panasonic 60" 3D LCD DT60 (TH-L60DT60A) $2199.99 at Costco [Membership Required]

130

A new batch of Costco coupons came out over the weekend with one of them for the Panasonic 60″ DT60 3D, 200Hz, LED, LCD TV (Model TH-L60DT60A, Costco Item #26469). I dropped in tonight to check the final price and it comes down to $2199.99 (normally $2349.99 at Costco). A quick price check online yielded the following comparison:

  • Costco – $2199.99
  • JB HiFi – $2591
  • Harvey Norman – $2599
  • Dick Smith – $2998
  • Appliances Online – $2547

The special wasn’t actually ticketed when I went in this evening so I asked a staff member to confirm it. In discussing the price he also confirmed for me the Costco ‘warranty’ policy. It isn’t truly a warranty but it is a satisfaction guarantee on Costco’s part, whereby a member who keeps their membership continuous has the benefit of being able to return a defective product at any time within its expected lifetime. The staff member indicated that a reasonable life expectancy for a TV could be considered 10 years.

Don't forget, we follow the happenings at Costco in Australia on Loaded Trolley, so check us out some time if you are also a Costco member/fan.

  • Great to see someone posting the cost, since Costco never include it on their coupon. Thanks OP.

Also, as mentioned in most of the Costco posts. Membership is $60, but you can get your $60 fully refunded during your membership period if you want. (I did this a few years ago after 11 months with no questions asked)

  • Hey inlina. Did you notice if the summer stuff is on display yet? I am wanting some pool blow ups. Costco had some pretty cool ones last year.

    • +1

Summer stuff is in. Some pool toys but not as many as usual. Haven't seen any inflatable pols though.

  • do you know how much Costco charge for delivery? as I think this TV will not fit into a full size sedan.

    • Costco don't do delivery, but they do have a delivery guy that they can refer you to. Never try him before but i guess it shouldn't be too bad.
Normal delivery should cost about $60-70/hr

    • As Sushiyashi mentioned there are people they can refer you to. There is also a notice board in the cafeteria area near the toilets that often has delivery companies advertising. You can also try fairdinks.com.au…he might be able to do a delivery if you purchase the product.

  • This appears to be a Costco Docklands (VIC) special only.

I'm a member here in Sydney and didn't receive the email notice. Also the voucher PDF (http://cdn.costco.com.au/web/coupons/20130928X/12669%20DOCKL…) says "Exclusive Docklands Only Member Coupons for all your event needs"

Guessing it came out for the the AFL Grand Final. We might get our specials in Sydney this weekend thanks to the NRL Grand Final

  • JB Hifi at Chadstone and Camberwell VIC had this exact same Tv for $2099 in store yesterday..
Their website shows a different price but cheaper in store from what I can see

  • I'm interested to hear if anyone has had good or bad experiences with this "satisfaction guarantee"? Sounds like it might be worth it even though I can't really shop there (live in a unit, little space for bulk goods)

    • It is statutory law here, Australia rules.

      • The satutory law still has it limitations and does not define any minimums for expected life.

        http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/consumer-rights-guarantees/…

Where would you put the minimum expected life of a $2000 TV? I would say 3 years at most and you will spend a lot of time arguing with the manufacturer over that. It is likely that you would have to lodge a complaint with the ACCC to get any action. With Costco you just take it back and get a refund.

    • I have taken a lot of stuff back but never any electronics and usually not less than a month from when I bought it. I know people have taken back half eaten stuff close to expiry. There are also stories from the USA of people pushing their luck and taking back 3 year old TVs with no issues to upgrade to the newest model….needless to say Costco have changed their approach to guaranteeing electronics in the States.

  • I dont think Costco would return a tv after 10 years or 5 for that matter. You better get that in writing on your docket if its a serious part of your purchase decision.

    • The guy in electrical department gave it to me verbally and many others have had the same story. He used it as a selling point. They used to do it in the USA until they changed the policy which has not been changed here.
