Small Quarter Pounder Meal with Small Frozen Drink for $5 at All Maccas except WA at $5.95

410

Maccas are doing a smurfs meal deal to promote smurfs 2 movie. So quarter pounder burger with small chips and small frozen drink for $5. They are advertising the new frozen lemon, lime and vanilla (blue) but I've changed it to frozen coke. It's quiet cheap considering normally a small meal with soft drinkis $7.90 and the burger sells for $4.95.
It's a set meal so you can't upsize it to a large for $1.00 extra.
I was too embarrassed to take a photo, but it should be at your local store.

EDIT: I've only seen this in Vic, but it might be all states.
thanks to davluong, apparently it's $5.95 in WA.
hopefully the edited title isn't too confusing.

Is the quarter pounder smaller than usual?

    • -1

son of the Mac, also come with a small Smurf toy

    • +4

Well, they did shrink them from 4.5" to 4" back in 2009: http://www.theage.com.au/national/mcdonalds-in-bun-fight-ove…

    • I had this meal earlier. The quarter pounder was normal size. I was also able to change the drink to a small coke so it's basically a small quarter pounder meal for $5!

      • +1

I dont know what "normal size" for you is, but the quarter pounders nowadays are the same size buns as a big mac.

  • It's in NSW as well. Might be all states.

  • I think the $6 KFC street wise deal is still the best non voucher bargain.

    • +1

Maccas one is pretty decent. The 'frozen coke' style sugary drink is a nice hit too.
The chicken strips in the $6 KFC doublecrunch is rather average. Minimal chicken taste. I often just buy the $10 ultimate box to get the zinger burger which is much better.

And let's not forget HJs Stunner Meal. You also get a sundae in there's!

      • ' There's ' ?

        • +1

This is what happens when you're my size typing quickly on a little phone screen with what is supposed to be auto'correct'!
But thank you for contributing your sound knowledge of the English language to this forum!

    • CHOICE of 2 Minis [print sheet here] + Vanilla thickshake 1.2o.. all for 5.15 from HJ (4.89 by payWve) is quite awesome too.
Was quoted 5bucks just for the dam caramel shake at McDonalds … for these dollars, I think I'll move right to the 1L bucket MONARC INDULGE ® Super Premium Ice Cream@Aldi, OR x4 [email protected] very much. OTOH, I must've downed half a dozen uncharged big macs recent of McD's (that combined with other of some of their $2 menu) which I tend to regard as the high point for McD.

  • Available in QLD, if they don't have the poster up I would just ask

What a joke, just saw an ad on TV during the Brownlow, it's $5.95 in Perth.

    WA Tax.

OP/Mod, can you update the original deal?

    • HJ's will get my money whilst the vouchers are valid!

      • Even without vouchers, the Stunner Deal is usually on!

  • Thanks for sharing OP

  • Too many fast food deals of late!! Is there any more free big macs, cause that'd still be a better deal than this one :p

    • I've had too many big mac in the past month. Quarter Pounder meals are hardly on special, so I thought it was a good deal to share.

  • +1

Haha you would think they would do a promotion linked in with the Happy Meals. What does a quarter pounder have to do with smurfs, I get the frozen drink (food dye - colours same) but do the smurfs weigh a quarter pound each? ;)

    • and I find it strange they are targeting kids with Quarter Pounders.

  • -5

Don't get me wrong I love the deal but, I'm really disgusted by McDonald's marketing quarter pounder meals to children. If the research all points to food killing more people than smoking/drinking/road death/murder, etc WTF is ok with Maccas marketing quarter pounder meals to kids?
I just want to note I'm not against kids making their own decisions but if we're going to sit on that side of the fence we might as well be honest with ourselves and let them smoke/drink/drive as well because those things are less likely to impact their lives.

      2/10

    • I actually kind of have to agree. This is good value for adults and all us ozbargainers, but why are they promoting this for kids? I drove through the drive thru and saw the giant smurf character with a happy colourful quarter pounder + froze blue drink behind it calling it the Smurf deal. Do young kids these days normally eat something as big as a quarter pounder? Weird marketing.

  • Spotted in SA the other day.

Much better value than their other blue frozen drink snack offers, I think it's frozen drink + McBites for $4.95 or something

  • I always ask them to swap the frozen drink for a coke. So you can get a normal small quarter pounder meal for $5

I said I wouldn't eat big evil Maccas anymore(because it's overpriced and overrated) but the free big macs warmed my heart and these cheap quarter pounder deals will clog my heart. Maccas seldom discount their regular menu prices so this is a ploy to get the consumers back into their restaurants.

    • You've put forward a very compelling argument that I can not refute. Thanks… not! Now I'm going to get one!!!

  • Has anyone actually tried the blue frozen drink yet? The flavor sounds unique

    • Not to bad at all, just like a blue fanta id say.

  • -1

quarter lb of junk. No deal here :p

  • Can confirm at Croydon Park Maccas, most likely available across NSW.

    • I got mine from Ermington maccas (NSW) last night, next to BP.

Making it a medium jacks the price to $9.25. Got caught out there. Next time I'll buy two of the small meals and end up with an extra burger for only $0.75 more.

    • +7

Smart thinking. But why didn't you do a runner out of there when you got the price shock?

Ever go to a pub and order a regular schooner on tap? [Nobody ever asks the price of drinks in a pub, unless you want to look like a cheapskate].
Moments later after he has already poured the drink…
Bartender - "That will be $8.50 thanks"
After the price shock hits me, that's when I ninja 180 degree and usain bolt out of there leaving the bartender perplexed and wondering what the hell just happened!

      • +2

i always ask for the prices of drinks in pubs so I can weigh up which is better value for money, to get a beer or a premixed.
haven't had any issues with looking like a cheapskate so far :)

How dare mcdonalds persist with imperial weights in Australia. Boycott!!!!

  • I was trying to find out more about this odd-sounding lemon, lime & vanilla drink and came across this page from McDonalds Philippines.
    http://www.mcdonalds.com.ph/press_centre/filter/all/new/page…

…the goodness of vanilla soft-serve sundae and blueberry syrup…

    Almost sounds healthy!
Also, what is that strange semi-fluorescent goo oozing out of the burger?

    • I'd say that semi-fluorescent goo oozing out of the burger is cheese…?

    • Looks like the colour smurfs would be on the inside…

  • is there a way to complain to McDonalds online, probably email or form with the ability to attch a pic or two? I bought a burger today and it was a shocker (appearance and quality wise)
