I would probably spend a little more to get a VA or IPS monitor, AOC IPS monitors are pretty cheap and Philips monitors are manufactured by AOC as well.

    • Very surprised to hear that. Learnt this today.

I will not be able to justify the screen quality. AOC generally has crap design. The physical appearance just look 2nd or 3rd class comparing to other 1st tier brands.

      • Yeah, to be honest I'm not really a fan of AOC's image quality, but they have the cheapest monitors out there offering more than other manufacturers.
I quite like BenQ, especially their VA monitors.

I bought some Philips and Aoc 19". For the display quality Philip is just rubish. Aoc's making is not bad I already used quite a few. BENQ and acer never on my list due to sub-quality on everything

    • Philips sold their entire consumer electronics division this year, so "Philips" don't manufacture any of this stuff anymore.

  • this one do not have hdmi . i came to officeworks and checked it before. then i bought the asus ve247h 24'' for $165 @ centrecom. connect to my hd laptop and i got full hd display.

    • acording to the specs on the link above
      it has 2X HDMI

      • 3 weeks ago. i looking for a monitor with hdmi online. i found the that philip 2 hdmi above on officeworks website. so i come there and check at the back , but no hdmi. in the price tag does not spec hdmi aswell. that is why i did not buy it. maybe my eye got a problem, sorry all :D

I think I see the confusion here.

Officeworks are seelling 2 different models:
      247E3L - with no HDMI
      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

      and

      247E3LH - with 2 hdmi ports
      http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

I bought a couple and got 1 of each without realising.
It's no problem for me because i use vga/dvi, plus I can't be bothered going back to swap it, and have them tell me they don't have the HDMI models anyway.

  • Confirmed. Official specs from Philips Australia has this monitor as having 2 x HDMI. thanhliemduong made a mistake. It was his $6 to waste.

  • So, can I connect this monitor to a digital HD settop box and use it as a TV set?

    • You could but you won't get any sound through the monitor. The HDMI connectors are video signal only. The speakers on the monitor would connect to a PC sound card through the 3.5mm audio jack.

      • The Phillips monitor has a 3.5mm Jack-in, if you run RCA cables from the set-top box to the 3.5mm, there's no problems.

        • Yeah you could do it that way. But know there is no HDMI sound so the sound quality may suffer since the 3.5mm audio jack is analogue sound. But that way you suggested is the only way of getting sound through the monitor. It's only so good if the HD set top box has RCA sound outputs.

  • awesome LED images

Seems Philips are just making stuff up nowadays.

  • cheers for the post OP

  • Yeah two different Philips 23.6" monitor models at exactly the same price $159 with one with DVI-D and the other with HDMI although the model numbers look very similar and the monitors look physically identical in appearance so it's easy to get confused. Make sure that you get the Philips 247E3LHSU2 model.
