Hi, Yes its twin HD and comprises of 1x Terrestrial DVB-T (free to air/freeview)
and 1x Satellite DVB-S. In other words it can record both Satellite
and Terrestrial at the same time in HD.

i this really a good price?

this guy has them for $129.

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Ziova-Clearstream-CS615-HD-Network-Me…

  • Price has been matched. Truly great deal for a media streamer. Stock will run-out!

    • price has been matched?

  • Is this one as good as WD TV?

  • Thats the sale price! This is a special Oz Bargain offer. Not clear enough? $154 + Free Shipping

  • I still see it as $174..

    Edit: Never mind.

  • Looks OK. $154 + Free Shipping everyone that's a true bargain considering the competitions offerings
and price aka $300-400. This offer will run-out so get in quick

  • I CANT DECIDE IF I SHOULD GET THIS OR NOT, has anyone bought one yet?

  • As tempting as it looks.. I think i'll pass. lol. gotta pay off my debts ;) haha, besides, if i get it.. i'll probably get the eBay one.. so i get an extra feedback :P

  • so basically this is a twin tuner HD set top box that lets you plug a USB in to record two channels at once?

  • Jpower, chubbyguts isn't talking about the posted item.

I don't see the word's "tuner" or "record" there at all.

FYI, note the caddy takes IDE drives!

The usb appears to be for memory sticks and portable HDD's to play media from.

  • I just bought one, let's see how it will go.
ps I've a IDE HDD which is doing nothing at the moment, so I'll be able to fit it in I guess.

  • It says it plays MPEG-4 (H.264) - does it play MKV's that's the real qn

  • Deal sounds alright

Just be aware that Ziova were formerly Zensonic AFAIK. They have pulled back on other markets to focus solely on the Australian market (take that how you like). I regularly read the reviews posted on MPCCLUB. Although the website owner has a problem with Ziova (their management team don't seem too professional)

Anyway might be worth reading a review if you want more detail on the player … http://www.mpcclub.com/modules/Reviews/reviews/review_ziova.…
Although it is quite bias, the detail is reasonable.

as per that review - no mkv support = fail! lol

    • I have one, paid a lot more than that, at it plays MKVs flawlessly (plays SD, 720p, 1080p etc). The review was likely done before a firmware update. Overall, I wouldn't say the unit is perfect, but I'm very happy with it for convenience. I did have a HDD in at at one stage, but now I just play over the network because it's so much more convenient.

      • IF you had a hdd in it - its basically a media centre / NAS unit in one? (eg does the HDD access go both ways)

would be better if it was sata hdd though…

    • MKV support was added in September of last year.

    • The IDE HDD was a limitation of the chipset when manufactured hence no Sata support.
IDE internal HDD's are still readily available and cost around $130-140 for a 500gb, in comparison
a USB 2.0 external 500gb HDD is around the $99 mark. AS the unit has 2x USB2.0 adding a removable Sata HDD
is a viable option. The other networking option is connecting the CS615 with a NAS (Network-attached storage) which
provides both storage and file system to your whole network.

The IDE HDD aside the CS615 is still exceptional value for money at this price.

  • Is there any room for a SATA-to-IDE adapter?
    Something like this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12537

    • Hi, On sight yes it does look like it would fit in the case area but without the exact dimensions Im not willing to say 100% difinitely yes it will work.
Also the cables from the adapter to the HDD would have to be super short.

  • so will this play .mkv files and what it the menu like?

  • Hi Yes it plays .mkv files

    http://www.mpcclub.com/modules/Reviews/reviews/review_ziova….

Gives you a good run down of the menu and operatrion. It should be noted that this review was done before mkv firmware was added

  • Got mine a couple of days ago , very happy so far. took a long time to transfer files through the usb port (500 gb) plays all files like it should (firmware updated) i really like the remote and compared to most media players its fast.

Network setup wasnt that bad as long as you set static ip address although depends on your network.

Did not like my hdd at first the realised i had to format in the system first and make sure the connection was good at the ide connector as i had a weird display at first

compared to my other three media players this one is my fav (after almost 2 days lol) i give it and 8.5/10 for something that was nearly $600 when released for $170 is delivered is bloody awesome

Crazy stu although didnt reposnd to my email and could not get through on the phone , were very fast with delivery bought sunday lunch (online) received tuesday morning.

  • Does it support external subtitles when playback mkv and divx?

  • yes just make sure file name of subtitles is the same as the movie (extensions to be left unchanged so they will be different).
