ORIGINAL POST
For some reason, Lenovo is offering a hefty $165 discount if you select the "Arctic Blue" display colour when configuring the E330. There are three base configurations on offer - this applies the the i3-3120M and i5-3230M models (the i3-3110M cannot be reconfigured).

After changing the screen to Arctic Blue, the standard coupons also apply. For the i3-3120M, you can use SEPWELC2013 coupon. For the i5-3230M, the E330DEAL coupon provides a slightly bigger discount on the base config, while SEPWELC2013 may be better if you add upgrades.

  • Well and truly Lameovo'd.

I wonder what would happen if say we all call their sales phone lines, spend as much time as possible "choosing a system" then not go through with it…. and repeat. Do this 3 times each and it will have cost them way more than if they had honoured the orders….

    just thinking….

    • +4

its good to just think, otherwise u just waste ur life.

  • can someone copy and paste their ACCC complaint description so we can all copy and paste and file a complaint to Lenovo via ACCC

https://www.facebook.com/LenovoANZ?fref=ts - lets all make a complaint via their FB website as well

    this is unacceptable

    • we tried last time with the ACCC and fairtrade for the X1C price error , ACCC said price error is price error, as long as they refund you money, they do not need to honor it. the end

all we can do is complaint via their FB .

  • +10

I've made a comment on their Lenovo Australia and New Zealand "Actually, LET'S MAKE 2013 THE YEAR OF CANCELLING EVERYONE'S ORDERS!!!" based on their profile cover image. Everyone lets jump on it!!!

  • I haven't received a cancellation email for the E531 yet, but I am sure it will show up sooner or later!

That is what happens when you play "The Price is Wrong"!

    • I haven't received any email yet either, but when I went into order tracking I saw it was cancelled. I thought accepting your money was agreeing to the sale?

  • +1

ACCC wont help, we tried during the X1C price error. lenovo offered me something, but it is still like heaps more expensive than the price error they claimed.

we can only keep bugging them on their facebook .

    • -1

If they offered to sell you the same thing for a higher price that is bait advertising.
They offered you a laptop for $336 and when it came to reality they are planning to sell the same thing for a higher price.

  • +3

So infuriating to see these companies get away with these sort of tricks time and time again, wasting people's valuable time

    • You seriously believe companies make damaging pricing errors every day DELIBERATELY. And then as part of the trick they won't even LET you upgrade to a different unit or the proper price - you need to totally buy again.
What exactly would this 'trick' achieve for them, other than pissing people off?

  • Order Status?

Is anybody seeing any sort of Order Status that would indicate they are going to get a refund sometime soon?

  • How long is fair to wait for a response?
2 business days? 3? Can they just never ship or communicate? There are mistakes and there is taking the pi$$.

  • Didn't even get an apology

just the BS "Your order has been cancelled as you requested." yesterday for the headphones and now today for the laptop

  • +3

No apologies, no update nothing. I finally e-mail them today and got the same cookie-cutter cancellation e-mail. You can go jump Lenovo - don't think I'll be ordering from you later or any time at all in the future.

My previous enquiries indicated nothing amiss with the order - looks like they just quietly cancelled the order.

Lenovo, looks like you just don't care - or another atypical massive corporate machine - we small people doesn't matter whether we buy from you or not - my payment was refunded, but they did not reply at all to my e-mail asking about refund leaving me to check with my credit card company.

Pricing error or not there must be those who purchased out of need - and this is not a good showing. Would you purchase from a company that do not give a #$@%^ about their customers/customer communication and service?

Typical, first Dell, now Lenovo, ranks of a good reputable company are indeed getting thinner.

    • +1

Well Chris Jowsey (who signed off the Lenovo letters) worked at Dell before he moved to Lenovo so perhaps thats where he got his customer skills from…

  • "If you wish to contact me directly to discuss this further … " yeah what a joke - I sent another e-mail - NO RESPONSE for few hours now!

  • The current list price for the 531 doesn't make sense to me. Previously with the $176 discount and an upgraded 8gb RAM and the total was $410.

But now with the additional $99 for the FHD, it should be only $509 instead of $657 with the voucher! How does that work?

    • +4

      $410+$176+$99=$685….

  • I guess you can say we've been Lenovo'd…

    • +2

      Lenovowned

      • Nah - that would be owning one of the most robust high end mobile workstations on the market, many of whose models just have no competition at all.
Or perhaps finding out the the guy you are presenting your engineering proposal against has one and you don't.

  • +24

Why doesn't everyone just grow up.

It was pretty obvious at the outset that it was an error and we all tried to take advantage of it hoping that we might be lucky. Mistakes do happen and sometimes we benefit from them but its just a waste of energy to try to push a view that they must honour the price that was clearly wrong.

Sure they responded late and their initial response to it was poorly thought through and was certain to aggravate the situation more. Let them know that if you want and if it makes you never buy from them again that's fine. No doubt they will lose some customers from it.

Talk of ACCC action and suggestions that it was a deliberate error for marketing reasons really are nonsense.

If you are so annoyed at the time you wasted on the deal, then think twice for the next one before committing to the chance that what is almost certainly an error will be honoured.

Just take a breath, relax and get back to enjoying life and watching out for the net real bargain.

Nobody benefited from the error and nobody has a right to benefit from the error. That's not such a bad result.

I wonder if reversing the pump produces all negative effects?
Have to say I am surprised you would propose an IQ test for members - would it be one you had to be under? Or do you want to move on elsewhere but just cant find the push?

    • +6

Some people (like me) aren't too fussed about about Lenovo honouring the price and whatnot.
We are not happy with Lenovo's response on the mistake that they did.

Sure, the pricing error was more of "maybe I can push my luck on this one" sort of thing. Not ashamed of it. If they don't honour it, I'll take an apology and move on.

As a note, I would've bought the E531 anyway (when they have their usual weekend sale) IF they actually have the Full HD screen option for that specific model. With this sort of response from Lenovo, I think I'll be getting a W550EU instead.

Everyone can have different opinions, and IMHO "grown-ups" can accept this fact and let them be (instead of telling everyone else to "grow up").

      • +3

Exactly. Monday morning they should have emailed out that it was a mistake, or even come here and let people know, and refunded there and then.

Their level of customer service over this mistake was extremely poor, and in fact still is as even the latest email they sent out makes no mention of refunds.

      • +1

Hmmm, I had not seen that Clevo … AND it comes with Ubuntu preinstalled!

    • +3

It was pretty obvious at the outset that it was an error and we all tried to take advantage of it

Not true. I honestly thought the case was supply > demand and therefore discounts would encourage sales of stock. I'm not an opportunist either; I never jumped on this "deal", though was tempted.

Anyway, following this thread, it seems Lenovo has executed conflict-resolution management very poorly.

Overall, it is free market research ; thousands of personal data have been collected and kept.

      • +1

Our personal data has already been passed on by Lenovo to third-parties. I have already received spam advertising from a Lenovo dealer.

        • you assume, that is a pretty powerful allegation to make without proof

    • -1

Okay, thanks for the advice Chris Jowsey.

  • Hope some peoples' orders slip through the price error. Have a disgruntled employee putting it to full effect. Blessing in disguise though as the last 3 Lenovos all have their cons.

    • +5

When Lenovo treats customers with contempt during sales, imagine what they'd be like to deal with if you scored a lemon…

      • +1

Believe me I know first hand. Go to the whirlpool forums under Lenovo bad warranty to read some of Lenovo's customer care. I just thought I'd take another punt to save money. Above comment should read "the last 3 Lenovos I've had bought brand new".

They don't make these machines like IBM used to make. The build quality on an x41 tablet I just parted with was absolutely solid.

        • +2

Wow. No more Lenovo for me.

        • Same. Their build quality does not live up to marketed expectations, with my personal experience. I have a Carbon X1 which I do not recommend. No more Lenovo. Especially after observing what had just happened…

  • +1

thought it was too good to be true :( but i was looking forward to a new 13inch lappy!

  • If it sounds too good to be true it probably is… Was tempted to buy but figured this would happen.

  • I don't have a cancellation email yet.

Looks like my cheap laptop is on the way :-)

  • so i got a 2nd cancellation email, again advising i cancelled the order, but this time all items cancelled, laptop, shipping and ear plugs.

what was more interesting was the email from Budget PC just above it. i think i must be on their list due to my last ozbargain deal, (wireless mouse)

with only 1 thing on the email promoting a lenovo laptop special

    http://www.budgetpc.com.au/new-pcs-notebooks/notebooks/b590-…

i dont know if its a deal or not. but game enough to check and post on ozbargain.. haha doubt it.

  • my headphones just shipped. winner.

    • just your headphones?

        yeah bit strange:

I grabbed the e531 for my daughter's birthday, not the usual 'it's a bargain, I must have it' response. Thought I'd snuck through but got told at 2.40pm today that I'd cancelled my order.

It may be tin foil hat stuff but my congratulations goes to Lenovo for harvesting the personal details of thousands of customers. Next round of spam that hits my inbox, I'll have a fair idea where it originated from (and no, I didn't tick their 'please spam me' box).

    • +10

Sign up for everything with a unique email if you use gmail (which you should.)

Everything after the + in a gmail address is ignored.

      My email: [email protected]
Email I used for facebook reg: [email protected]
Email I used for this order: [email protected]

Now I can create a search filter based on who they sent the email by typing "TO:[email protected]" in the search bar at the top of gmail then clicking create filter based on this search. Mark as spam > delete it > done.

Never hear from lenovo or anyone they sell my details too again!

      • What a brilliant idea. Does this only apply for Gmail?
My primary is hotmail and I keep my Gmail as secondary as my corporate spam catch-all repository.

        • +1

I only know about it working on gmail.

Here is just a few of my filters I have set up in gmail at the moment. The really long one matches the emails linked to my website, separated by OR (info@… OR me@… OR staff@…)

got this reply after request of my refund.

    Thank-you for your email.

When we identified the pricing error on our site, we cancelled all pending orders. After placing your order, our order team emailed you and included details about our sales policy and acceptance of orders. You may also review our detailed sales terms and conditions here. These are also posted on our website.

    http://www.lenovo.com/legal/au/en/New_Products_and_Warranty_…

We’ve not yet charged you for this – we only charge your card once we’ve shipped your item. These funds may be showing as a “pending” payment on your credit or debit card statement.

While your order has been cancelled, it may take up to 5-10 business days for any authorisation to expire. Please contact your financial institution for their exact timeframes as these may vary.

This is an isolated occurrence and we’re sincerely sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.

I got exactly the same email, word for word…

Did you get the initial email they referred to ?

After placing your order, our order team emailed you and included details about our sales policy and acceptance of orders.

      I didn't…

      Yet another lie from Lienovo.

Why can't they just send a truthful email admitting they made a mistake ???

      • +1

I got the same email. Without answering my question in the email.

Looks like automated reply or standard template.

        • +1

Looks like automated reply or standard template.

I'm now doing automated replies to their automated replies until they answer my questions.

    • I've got the same! I don't think they have ever listened to any customer.

    • This is not an isolated occurrence, in 2012 september, there was the price error for the x1 carbon, you can find it on ozbargain too.

      • Wow — one pricing error a year - definitely not isolated then.
What do you call it when there is a pricing error every week? cos i seem t find one every time I go to the supermarket, or Supercheap, or BigW. If once a year isnt isolated then overy few days must be a positive deluge of noah's flood proportions.

  • +6

Now they start to spam me with emails

Email title "Welcome to Lenovo! Enjoy your exclusive subscriber benefits" and then they add in a 10% off coupon.

They are trying to buy my love but NO LOVE FOR LENOVO, you have lost me as a customer forever

    • +1

Everyone was saying they want compensation - people waved around $50, pretty hard to get a lenovo ender $500 - they specialise in higher end machines (40% of the US market for windows machines over $900US) - so that seems pretty equivalent.
Lenovo figured out they had a problem in less than one business day and started apologising on the next - doesn't seem slow for a behemoth like Lenovo (particularly a Chinese one) to deal with ANYTHING. Sure some staff must have panicked created the emails that upset people, but it really doesn't seem that bad, esp given you all ordered at the least suspecting it was an error - does it?
Just how far would they have to grovel? This article seems to suggest operating margins not far over 5% on avg http://www.economist.com/news/business/21569398-how-did-leno… despite avoiding OEMs with a large level of vertical integration, and despite being the largest PC manufacturer (by units) in the world they posted a 100million profit which would seem to back up fairly low margins (14 million units, 100 million profit, so about $7 per unit on avg if all the profit were PCs - which it isnt).
I am guessing that there would be $100 loss on avg on these machines (given their huge difference from the normal sale price, even their rock bottom prices), at least 1,000 machines being conservative - so for you guys to be happy they should have worn 6 figure losses? What company in their right mind would do that?

      • I did not read any of your long post but finding you replied A LOT in any of the discussions

you either have lots of spare time and have nothing to do, or you are employed by Lenovo…..

        • So he makes an informed post and that automatically makes him a company rep… welcome to the new ozbargain.

        • It's a brave new world..

        • You are right, Sadly I am a crippled electronic technician (among other things) so gifted with quite a bit of time to use lying on the couch in pain. Tho I should type less, it hurts.

I actually was head tech for another Australian PC company some time back, so more their competition at some level, but I certainly like their equipment (tho not their 10% ownership by the Chinese govt, even if they are publicly traded).
Back when I was doing refurbs as a sideline I always hated doing think pads (esp x series) - so tightly crammed and engineered to use the shell structurally - great to use but a PITA to work on.

Anyway my posts in the most really have very little to do with Lenovo and a lot to do with pricing error in general, and with entitled behaviour in a circumstance where you know you are taking a risk. You might even find they are worth reading - at least you could know what I am saying before you start accusing me of things :)

        • Why thank you :)

        • I did not read any of your long post but finding you replied A LOT in any of the discussions

you either have lots of spare time and have nothing to do, or you are employed by Lenovo…..

Don't worry, everyone learns to ignore him after a while.

        • Pmupsinep is a guy who has been trolling here for years without actually ever posting a bargain. He also has crazy conspiracy theories that anyone who defends a company automatically works for them. He accused me of working for Harvey Norman multiple times when I made intelligent arguments against his utter nonsense.

Don't worry, everyone learns to ignore him after a while.

        • -3

Oh Modokun, one day you will realise no one cares what you write or your existence. But until then, please carry on! We all need to be entertained :)

          Pmupsinep is a guy

How do you know I'm a guy? Making assumptions, as usual?

  • +1

Just want to recieve email and to get my money back. Untidy Lenovo, understand mistake, though I should of have notified by now and advised qbout refund. This does not do them any favours in my book.

  • I got the email of the price error BS, but there's no mention of when I will be receiving my money back…. I did a direct bank deposit payment.

    • When did you do your direct deposit order?
I'm hoping mine will slip through - I placed a direct deposit order like a few minutes before they removed all the options (mines an E330), and paid yesterday.

      • I did a direct deposit on Sunday.
Got the cancellation email yesterday but my money is not back yet.

  • I still haven't received the cancellation e-mail…

  • +3

Ah this is bullshit. At least Kogan did the right thing an honoured the Lens Mug screw-up, this is just shady. I won't be buying an Lenovo ever.

    • what should they do - just suck up losses of 6 figures cos some people made orders they knew were a price error on their bottom models?? They are apologising, sending out 10% discount codes and they seem to be doing it pretty quickly for a company of their size.
Yeah, not perfect, but hardly demonic, esp considering they KNOW they are dealing with people who were trying to take advantage of them.

    • Kogan honoured it most likely because they still made profits out of them.. laptops on the other hand have a much slimmer margin
