It's only region free for DVD

    • Nope read the comment " region free bluray and dvd"

      • Manufacturer claims it is region free for blu ray, can anyone confirm? My understanding is that it was only DVD

I have the 3D model and can assure you it most definitely is region-changable for Bluray (see my reply below). I'm pretty damn sure the non-3D is the same; Whirlpool users assert so here: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2004014 So I don't know where you're getting for information from

        • Thanks :)

      • Yep, I have the 3D version and it's region free for DVD - any region DVD will play out of the box - and it's region changeable for Bluray (enter a command with the remote and select region.) Tested and works perfectly with all other-region discs I've tried, including 3D ones. My first/only bluray player so I'm no expert, but picture on my 50inch is great, and it's pretty quick to turn on and load discs…I'd recommend.

That said, 89 bucks has been standard price for a while now from The Good Guys (for the non-3d one), and they may accept less for cash?

I saw free blu ray player.

  • It may be region-free for Blu Rays according to this review:

It's been this price or cheaper for a very long time at Good Guys (excl delivery) and yes it does region changing Blu Ray out of the box.

  • This has been $68 at Harvey Norman for months.

    • Which one? Wasn't at Malaga when I bought it a few months ago. It was ~$90.

      • Garden City QLD, think it may have been on clearance because they never got any new stock in once it sold out.

        • Ah ok. I've found Harvey Norman to be very inconsistent with pricing, between stores and what they advertise on their website. Can make it really frustrating at times!

        • That's because Harvey Norman's are individually franchise owned.

        • Whilst I understand that, considering you can order online and then pick up in store, I'd be pretty pissed off ordering online and going to pick it up, and seeing a different price in store (sometimes it can be cheaper, sometimes can be a LOT more). I can understand individual stores having sales, but when there's just different advertised prices it can be frustrating.

  • Easily get it from TGG for cheaper if you bargain….

  • whose the 3 year warranty with? feedback anyone?

    • Err with Laser?

It's not an extended warranty offered by the retailer. Although you're well within your rights to deal with the retailer on your behalf for the full warranty term.

  • You might also want to check out the Audiosonic 3D blu ray player which can be unlocked for region free.
I purchased one to play MKV files which it has yet to fail.
It's only 1 year warranty but is $88 as well I think.
The interface is pitiful but I doubt at these prices you are going to get a smart screen looking setup.

  • The "Piece of Mind" that it comes with - Inception bundle? :)
