This deal been around for ages, it's only getting cheaper because the exchange rate has improved.

    • +2

and it is the best price for us Australians at the time of posting this deal

      • +2

For most Australians, I only spent $290 for 32 gb Australian version. Personally I don't think the small saving is worth the risk of getting one with issues like many have on wp.

        • Where did you get the 32GB for $290 AUD from?

        • +2

Jb, bought first day it came out here. Paid $338 with ING paywave plus trs. People been picking up 32 gb for 310 at jb since day 1.

This Amazon deal is the same deal posted nearly a month ago..

          http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/114308

        • Your comparing Kogans $289 for Amazons $260

Its $29 difference plus you get Amazons hassle free customer service which is a bonus

        • +2

Nope I'm comparing when links were posted to this deal, which are in those comments, this is old news.

        • -1

The only difference between this post, JB-Hifi and Kogan is that this post has referral links, which gives some money to the OP, while if you buy from JB-Hifi or Kogan, the OP will get nothing. Price wise ain't much difference, you can also claim 10% from TRS if you travel overseas, which brings the JB price to $290 mark.

        • +2

The only difference between this post, JB-Hifi and Kogan is that this post has referral links,

The referral link is optional. The Person has the option to click on the image which is a non referral link if your signed in with your login. If your not signed it, then you get linked to the ozbargain amazon referral link which helps raise revenue to manage the expenses of the site

you can also claim 10% from TRS if you travel overseas

          Not everyone is travelling overseas.
It may not be a good deal for you, but it is definitely a good deal for other people

As I understand, it's harder to do anything if you get one with dead/stuck pixel? Have to ship back to US at expense? Or will ASUS Australia replace it with international warranty?

    • +2

It's not worth the effort, you are better buying locally at this price. Some dude on wp has only had the tab for one day in the first month. If you negotiate and use ING card you'd hardly pay any more, you can exchange straight away if have issues and you can have the tab today.

A month ago when there was no Australian stock and you were impatient this was tempting deal..

      • Have to ship back to US at expense?

Amazon are usually good with returns. They will pay your return shipping if its under warranty

Or will ASUS Australia replace it with international warranty?

If it has international warranty, then they are obligated to repair or replace it

      • +1

Yep, I agree. It was 3rd time lucky for me — the first 2 Nexus 7's had a few dead pixels. Luckily I bought from Officeworks so I was able to easily exchange them on the spot until I had one with no faults.

As far as I know, Officeworks will replace your Nexus 7 on the spot, even if it only has 1 dead pixel. In contrast, many other places (i.e. Amazon) will strictly follow ASUS's Warranty process/guidelines, which state it needs more than 3 dead pixels before they'll replace it for you. It's not worth the risk and hassle (and long waiting times).

The new Nexus 7 (2013) is an amazing tablet, but the quality control from ASUS has been pretty poor. Just have a read of forums (i.e. Whirlpool) to see that so many of the first batch of N7's have quality control issues with them. Buyer beware (err, be informed)!

        • The dead pixel issue is actually to do with IPS display. The makers (i.e. LG and Japan Display) continue to ship panels with 1 - 2 dead pixel(s) to companies like Apple, Dell and Asus. I have had dead pixel issue with all of those 3 companies (yes, Apple, Dell and Asus (Google Nexus 7 2013)).

For Apple, it was iPad 4, first one had a dead pixel, returned it to get another one, still had a dead pixel. Gave up, decided never to get iPad 4 anymore (not going to try 3 times). Dell, it was a Ultrasharp monitor. Google Nexus 7 2013 - the shop was willing to swap it for a new one.

Not sure why IPS LCD screens have such bad quality control. The high res / retina display makes things worse, as there are now more pixels.

As for cheap Chinese brand tablets with IPS screens, well… I've got one of those… it has a cluster of dead or stuck pixels (pixels always show the same colour).

        • Hello tryonthis, I've just bought a Nexus 7 (2013) can you guide me how to detect dead pixel? You mention some may have 1 dead pixel?

          Cheers,

      • Better buy locally for tablets or phones for warranty purpose. Its different if you buy blu-rays from amazon, 99% of the time the discs will work, but tablets, not really sure.

  • -1

    oic, it's a tablet

    • +7

The Nexus 4 is a mobile phone (4.7" screen), whereas the Nexus 7 is a tablet (7" screen). They are two completely different devices, used for different purposes.

Edit: Well now that you've edited it, I look like a fool.

      • I was asking what's the difference until the Amazon page finally load up
edited before your reply so…..can't help it! :P

not sure who's the one who -NEG everything…..

  • I've been holding out for the N7 to become available on the Google Play store. Am I justified in waiting at all? It's probably going to be more expensive, but I feel more comfortable getting it direct from Google and feel like it would be easier dealing with any potential warranty issues.

    • +5

Amazon are very good at handling warranty issues. probably best customer service ive dealt with.

They replaced a Vmoda croosfade LP for me free of charge and refunded me leather gloves (i bought for ~ $150) because the size guide was wrong.
In both occasions, they told me to keep the items or donate them to charity

      • I don't doubt them honouring their warranty policy; I'm more concerned about having to ship my new toy back to the US because of some dead pixels and not have it for weeks at a time. I feel like I'd much rather pay a premium and have an Australian warranty.

      • +1 for Amazon customer service. Of the times where I've had cancelled orders or damaged goods, they've provided credits to my Amazon balance as well as let me keep said goods

  • This is a really good price. I just received my Nexus LTE version today, bought from Shopping Express, very happy with the purchase. Web browsing is very fast, AnTuTu benchmark show 20169, and the screen is really beautiful.

    • The real test will come after you've had it for a few months and loaded apps, images etc on it. The last N7 started to run slow. Hopefully Asus have rectified these issues.

      • +3

Trim as now resolved this on old and new version

      • Factory restore every couple of months? I know it's not ideal but Android is the dirty cousin of Linux named Sanchez, he gets around and you have to clean him every now and then.

  • Should I buy now or wait till next releases? Last time I went to JB, sells told me current releases are all crap, dead pixels, sensor not working etc etc. They had a few in stock, but they didn't sell me any.

    • +3

This only just came out… You are waiting another year.

    • buy it now! Exchange it if there is any dead pixels or other problem. Mine was perfect from jb hifi

  • Bought mine at officeworks for $321 after price match from jb. Been loving it :)

  • Will ow price match amazon. 32 gig came to AUD 313.10 delivered. I dont want the 5% off coz im going overseas so better 10% gst back.

    • i dont think they will but you should try going to jb hifi and ask for $310 for 32gb (i got mine for $310 from jb last sat)

      • They actually have before on a number of things. the last thing that I got them to pricematch from amazon was the WD TV Live Streaming for around $89 plus 5$ off.

  • It's easy to walk into JB or GG and get it for $310. But bear in mind that the Wifi model seemed to have more pixel problems than the LTE 4G model.

    • Don't forget the 10% TRS claim if you travel overseas, while Christmas New year holiday is only 3 months away and TRS now allow product up to 60 days (instead of 30 days previously) in advance to be purchased before travel date, now seems to be a good time. Amazon purchase not TRS claimable.

    • Hello all,
I bought a nexus 7 from OW. Used the receipt from tgg and the price was matched.
