Just got an email from them for 10% off travel insurance for purchases from now until 14th of October. A pity for me since I used the TIDTHANKS a few weeks ago and only got 6% off so this would be a better deal for anyone who's planning to travel soon.

I second that. They're well priced, easy to deal with and never had an issue making a claim!
I disagree strongly. I made a claim after I caught bronchitis and was hospitalised in the USA, and it took almost three months for them to process it. Full review (really long) of the experience here - http://www.productreview.com.au/r/travel-insurance-direct/48…
They're basically like TPG - they're cheap, and most people will have an okay experience, but if something goes wrong, they really mess it up.
The Mrs has now made 5 claims (maybe more), over the last 3 years! And some of them quite large including; changing an entire itinerary due to medical (approx $4000), lost jewellery, lost phone, damaged luggage! And her family has had a couple of claims over the years too!
I don’t discount that you’ve had an issue, but I’ve gotta say you've been unlucky!

The price for an annual multi trip just went up. I was waiting until last week to purchase, then when I went to buy the policy it was like $50 more expensive (with 6% disc). So annoyed. And now that I've already purchased, they send me a 10% discount code!
This policy has some additional cover designed specifically for skiers and with the discount is cheaper than 1Cover which I've always found the best deal previously. Got one. Thanks OP.
Great timing, I'm after some insurance for a trip to the US. People on the net seem to be quite satisfied with TID, so that's good. I wonder why they refused to participate in the Choice review though.
I received the same offer and I have used them before - but it is still important to look at other options. I've ended up going with 1cover.
Looking at the annual family policy, from TID.
I am travelling with my GF at the end of the year so not technically family yet. But looked @ the PDS it says "travelling partner" under definition of family? Hope someone can clarify.
Thanks!

I used TID when I went to the USA a couple of months ago. Got a nasty throat infection and had to go see a doctor and get some medication, set me back about $400. They were great to deal with everything (minus excess) was refunded within about a week of getting back. Highly recommended.
Is this better than cashback from starthere.com.au or qwibble.com.au when purchase online insurance?
Grr, I used the TIDTHANKS just last week for my travels in October.. That'll teach me for being efficient >_<
YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY FOR TRAVEL INSURANCE. IT IS AVAILABLE FOR FREE IF YOU HAVE THE TOP LEVEL CREDIT CARD WITH YOUR BANK. I HAVE AN ANZ PLATINUM CARD AND RECENTLY WAS PAID A $3300
CLAIM AGAINST THEIR TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY BECAUSE I HAD SPENT MORE THAN $200 on my card on my travel insurance arrangements.Do they cover damaged eardrums from excessive shouting?
All that loud typing, AND NOT EVEN ONE EXCLAMATION MARK TO HELP GET YOU'RE POINT ACROSS!
YOU WERE SO DISAPPOINTED ABOUT THE LACK OF EXCLAMATION MARKS YOU GOT YOUR YOUR/YOU'RE CONFUSED.
Fail,
LoL!Actually, just laughing quietly.
no need to pay for a top level credit card - the free bankwest zero mastercard gold has free travel insurance :)

I recommend these guys - they were easy to deal with when I had to get insurance on my mobile after losing it in the States.
