Is it portable or desktop???? You mention both in your post.
Unlikely that any HDD that has 4.0TB capacity would be portable (usb powered.
Where can I get a pricematch and 10% off?
Same price at OW
http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…Seems like a really good price, Amazon's and Newegg's going rates for a 4TB external HDD is $160 US and above. Cheapest on StaticICE and Get Price.
Even Buffalo's 4TB drives are going for $195 at OW.
Are they reliable yet? Seagates 4tb were duds.. WD/hitachi were safer.
Those were the old enclosures that overheated. These newer ones seem to have 4-star ratings across the board on Amazon (1,000 plus reviews) as well as on Newegg.
I thought most of those reviews were for reliable ones like 2tb. Really dislike the way the amazon reviews are mixed together - drives up to 2tb have very different failure rates than 3-4tb drives.
I bought 2 of these for $300 shipped in March. Similar to this deal (amazon)- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102209
I guess hard drive prices haven't been going down lately?
lowest is USD$129.99 + shipping, and iirc that's before Australian dollar sank!
if you order just 1, it was AUD$142 delivered, order more = cheaperhttp://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/96919?page=1#comment-130987…
$40 discount each compare to current deal….sad to see how Australian dollar sank to bottom!
Not a really good price. I just bought one from JB a week ago for ~$150 with the 20% off deal. Its a deal at $150, pretty average at $170+
I did the same a couple of weeks ago.
JB's ticket price is still higher though ($188) and those vouchers are only redeemable once. Most people would get two for backup purposes/converting them to internal drives for RAIDs, etc.
voucher?
If you're subscribed to the JB mailing list (need an account with them), you receive flat-rate discount vouchers for particular brands (Sony, Seagate, Apple) or for particular kinds of stock (CDs, Blu-Rays, Hard Drives, Computers). They're usually in the range of 10-25% off and are only redeemable for one purchase.
Can this be taken out and used as internal HDD?
yep
OMG there's actually stock! At least in Melbourne.
Too bad I've got more HDDs than I know what to do with…
