ASUS FTW! I'm just purchased the RT-N66U (Dual Band N900 router) instead of the AC version simply because Aussie has such a crappy internet infrastructure (ADSL2+, 22+mbps) that I will never be able to reach the max speed of Wireless N, let alone AC. For me, range(=speed) and stability is king.

There is huge support for ASUS routers by various custom firmware builders too.
