    PSU?

Also, there's a discrepancy with the CPU. Is it 3rd gen or 4th?

    • +3

      i5 3330 is ivy bridge (3rd gen)

      • Thanks for the neg (not saying it was you zelda), CPL fixed the typo that I pointed out where they said it was a 4th gen. I can see the PSU wattage is added too.

Once again, neg is defo welcome brah.

    • Seeing as it's a generic case with a generic-brand Yum Cha PSU, it'd probably make a great paperweight but not much of a PSU.

Don't get why they couldn't throw in an Antec Neo Eco 450W (it's 80PLUS and around $50-60).

  • Do you guys do bulk order discounts, as in, can I e-mail you with around $1500 worth of parts and you'll do a custom quote?

    Cheers.

    • Please email your requirements to [email protected]. We will do a customized quote for you.

      • Done, cheers!

Prices taken from MSY give you $541 for everything excluding the case/power supply combo and labor. So all in all a good deal for a media PC.

    • only thing is that a PC like this has a very specific purpose as a media PC. The CPU and ram are good, the graphics and case/psu are bad and with a bad psu not much in the way of upgrades can be performed. Would have been better off bundling a AMD Apu, and the bluray drive with the 2TB Hardrive, and maybe making it a micro Atx case, or smaller. But that would have greatly increased labor costs building micro or mini atx machines.

      • Yeah, the build is pretty bad. The GT610 is barely better and realistically pretty much the same as the inbuilt Ivy Bridge GPU, so it's a needless expense. The case and PSU are terrible. A lot of the software for BD playing is still kind of mediocre (some are good, but more are mediocre). A media PC would ideally be hard networked, so the wireless is questionable. The mainboard doesn't support SATA3 which wouldn't be a problem in the short term but might be a problem in the long term.

It's a weird mish mash of parts that doesn't really make it a work PC, a home PC, a media PC or a file server. It's a limbo PC.

  • Wow! CPL are really offering the deals at the moment.

When the last deal was on (a few days ago), I asked them about an upgrade to the video card - and some RAM. They were very quick with their responses. The price of parts was good, but there was a $100 fee … the explanation I got wasn't clear, but it appears that it's an extra $30 labour, and $70 for a different PSU.

I've since done a lot more homework, and these CPL specials are good value … especially when you consider that MSY wants $70 for assembly, and the price of the parts is comparable between MSY and CPL.

Also, keep in mind that if you're not close to a CPL, there are postage costs involved (and not necessarily one off postage costs).

    • Re. and not necessarily one off postage costs
They send you the PC in parts??!?!

I'm guessing he means in the case of faults/returns.

  • Hey rep, semi off topic…
Any deals on a steelseries Siberia v2 full headset? Preferably in black :p

  • Finally one with a bluray drive included. Half the reason I use my PC!

  • Im looking at building a new computer soon, Can someone tell me what CPU and motherboard to get to kinda future proof myself without spending loads? Can this be done?

  • I am waiting for something like no HD and no DVD so I can reuse the existing.

I wonder what ever happened with this:
    http://www.reddit.com/r/melbourne/comments/1iqp3e/how_the_pc…

I hope the guy was looked after in the end. Unfortunately no recent updates on reddit to say if it was ever resolved.

    • The guy dropped the PC after it was delivered.

So he used the power of the angry mob to extort CPL into fully replacing the unit he dropped with a brand new one, at CPL's expense…

The guy is such a cat he hasn't even at least put that in the many many threads he has started bitching about an issue he caused.

      • Wow, thanks for letting me know!

Not sure why I was negged by whoever… I was just concerned for someone who I thought got screwed.
I hope he got nothing if caused the damage himself!

it was cause by courier, it happened to few of my packages(including PC Case purchased somewhere else)
courier doesn't handle your big ass package just like their little girl! :-P

I'd say the reason is probably better packaging needed!
