I give this 5 stars, just like every other review on their independent website!

Gotta love this guy's review :
"…..I bought this producto to my personal use, and now I want to buy more to sell to my friends…."

      Sell, not gift!

reviews on the site are so bullshit

i bought one of their LED lights a while back and gave it an honest review (400 char), to say the least it was never approved on their website.

  • A deal on the wireless version would be nice.

  • $6 at cheap as chips, no waiting, no currency conversion. Local returns if something stops working.
I wonder how selling these to your friends will earn you a crust.

  • Cheaper than eBay… by about 20c :) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/LCD-Bike-Bicycle-Cycle-Computer-O…

Does look like a good deal for anyone not wanting to pay $20 for something similar at K-Mart or BigW etc.

Actually only a 6c difference, what with the USD vs AUD.

        Actually only a 6c difference….

For some people on here, i reckon that's enough.

  • Free app on your GPS-enabled smart phone does as good or better job than these things now days.

Actually no they don't work better. Sure a smartphone app will show you a map of there you went the the speed/distance is based on where the GPS thinks you are, it has nothing to do with the actual distance traveled.

i do 50km a day with it and actually find it really accurate - the gps is live and speed is accurate (i've checked in parallel with the Polar kit i used to own). the only issue is when i go through the tunnel and it looses reception. but quite cool when i come out of the tunnel and it says i'm doing 150km/h! burns phone battery though.

      • As quasi points out, that's only a problem if you can't get a GPS and/or phone signal (A-GPS uses phone tower triangulation as well as GPS). If you have a particularly bad phone for A-GPS or go through tunnels frequently then it's a problem. Otherwise it's pretty precise.

And the odometer isn't insanely precise either. It works off of an approximation of the circumference of the tyre multiplied by rotation. Even being off by a factor of a few mm on the circumference (which changes depending on tyre condition and pressure) can blow out to a fair imprecision over a 10km distance. Example: circumference is off by an average of 5mm on a 630mm circumference tyre on a 10km ride. Wheel has to go around ~15,900 times. Odometer is off by 80m on the ride.

But both are fine. Close enough for Jazz.

The biggest downside to the GPS would be the fact that it drains the battery like a mother. The biggest upside to the GPS option is that it can automate the tracking of your rides, can tell you where you went faster and slower, show what you did on a map (useful when trying new areas) and input it into general fitness/calorie tracking apps.

    • 2nd that. get a $6 phone mount and use smartphone with an app like ipbike (plenty "free" ones). you'll get to listen to music/radio, gps logging, upload to training sites, share/compete with friends etc. and can splash out on bluetooth cadence and HRM later (from the profits of selling 1000 of these computers to your friends)

    • Pity most Smartphones aren't waterproof tho :( I purposely bought a used water/shock/dustproof model of Motorola off eBay and a nice bar mount for it to use as a dedicated bike 'appliance' and to basically leave permanently attached to the bike but unclipped it at shopping centres etc. Managed to also use it with a Bluetooth sender to monitor the electric system when I converted it to an e-Bike too. Worked really well even when it was pouring with rain!
