  • Great price for this notebook, needs RAM upgrade but that's cheap enough these days anyway. Shame about the 3-cell battery though.

  • Confused, Can someone check if it does or does not have a built in HSPDA.

If it has it's a freaking bargain

    • It looks like the 3G modem and Bluetooth is optional. Even the benq site is a bit misleading about whether or not they are built in. Sure is a bargain if it is.

  • No built in 3G modem, but it has the room for one (not all netbooks do).

  • This isn't a very good deal

Umart have it for $579 (http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2…)
The Umart version has 1GB ram and a 6-cell battery.

This only has 512mb ram (although cheap to upgrade) and you'll need at least $60 to upgrade to a 6-cell battery not including postage or anything.

the "space" for 3G isn't a big deal. There are cheap USB modems and even $100 AUD Expresscard 3G Modems

    • Hmm, for $80 more the full blown version definitely seems like an appealing alternative. Either way, you're likely to chuck out the RAM and replace it with a 2GB DIMM, so the benefit is actually the battery which for $80 isn't a bad deal either. Then again, if you buy the battery with the $499 model you get 2 batteries, a 3 cell and a 6 cell..

      • Yes.. is questionable value against the 6-cell. Though for some buyers under $500 there is no 10" atom netbook 6-cell option, unless go secondhand.

The BenQ U101 was posted as a viable alternative to the $500 10.1" Kogan Agora, also a 3-cell. The BenQ U101 does have less RAM, at 512MB, but does provide a unique SIM slot for 3G/HSPDA connectivity and comes with XP instead of gOS (Linux). There's hardly any netbooks with a SIM slot.Though there are mini PCI-E HSPDA cards with the SIM slot on them. Choices choices..
