  • Hi Guys,
Any idea if this amp can control the center speaker volume individually ?

    Thanks

    • +1

      Well, bottom line, you can.

But it is not a control on the panel or in the remote. You can go to setup and adjust the level for each speaker.

      Hope that helps.

      • Thanks so much for your reply. How would you enter the setup if not on the remote or on the panel ?

I've got a Bose 3 2 1 and I am just so tired of not being able to hear the voice while the background noise is too loud

I think he means its not a simple volume button to press on the panel or remote, you do however have to use the remote to get to the setup menu.
I have an older Yamaha receiver and I can change the levels individually, so i'm sure this one is exactly the same. It's more of a set and leave option though, wouldn't want to be trying to change it to often, would just be hard work.

Spot on! That is exactly what I ment. Thanks!

You can provide a fixed dB increase for the centre speaker (e.g. centre speaker is always +2.5dB higher than anything else), but you can't "just" control the centre speaker volume. Does that answer your question ?

    • That answers it perfectly, Bing Lee were fully stumped with the question. I called and asked they still haven't called me back wit ha reply.

Thank for that DJ. Sold !

      • In addition, don't forget you use the little microphone that comes with the receiver to balance the speakers to suit your room & where you sit and you can also toggle on A.DRC when playing a movie late at night with the volume down, so when the actors are mumbling for effect it can be a bit easier to hear what they are saying…. I have an older Yamaha and it's pretty good….. Tempting to update though…;-)

  • Is HDMI "Standby through with input select" the same as audio standby pass-through? :)

    • It will pass through the HDMI signal to the destination (TV, projector etc.) without the amplifier powering the speakers (e.g. in standby).

  • I bargained a pair purchase the other week with this system with Galaxy note8 4g, and the yamaha yht399 went down to 500… I get the feeling they're clearing stock for anew model or something? You could always try pushing them for more of a bargain in store…

To be honest, I kinda wish I'd gone for the yht299. I wanted the 399 for dlna, but haven't managed to get it to appear as a play destination on my home network. So I can't send music to it from my phone…. So it needs the telly on and its clunky file browser interface just so I can play music from the network…… Boo.
