    $68 at Videopro

EDIT: I've used Videopro in the past many times and have always found them great to deal with (just for anyone thinking of buying).

Free shipping if you are a Sony member :)

  • I looked at the website to see what price they had on the MDR-V6 but they don't stock them. It would probably be the #1 seller if they did.

    • The MDR-V6 maybe listed under pro gear, which is a separate website.

Just a quick review, I have both the MDR-V6 and MDR-V55 and I prefer the V6s.

The V55s imo are very uncomfortable, they're more of an on ear type of headphone rather than over ear like the V6s. As a result, my ears get very hot with the V55s. I especially don't like the pleather pads on both, so I upgraded my V6s to Beyer velour pads which are very comfortable. I'm not sure if the V55s have replacement pads available.

In regards to sound, the V6s are more neutral than the V55s. The V55s have quite a lot of bass, and a lot more mids than the V6s. The V6s can be quite fatiguing if you don't like detailed headphones, especially in the treble/high frequency ranges, but I like them.

In terms of build quality, I feel the V55s are more cheaply made. The plastic is very 'plasticky' and has a weird/cheap looking hinge. The V6s look professional in design imo and also fold up like the V55s, so are somewhat portable. You get a pleather carry case with the V6s, but nothing with the V55s. Also, I prefer the coiled 3m long cable on the V6s over the relatively short flat cable on the v55s. In addition, my V55s are made in China, where as the V6s are made in Thailand (if that matters to you). As I understand, older V6s were made in Japan.

Overall, I would say if you have a choice, buy the V6s off amazon. It'll cost around the same money.

    For reference, I'm using a AuneT1 hybrid tube dac/amp.

Finally, as an aside, I have on order from Amazon a pair of Q701s (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/113702), which some people regard as an upgrade to the V6s, so hopefully I can post a comparison when I receive them next week.

  • Has anyone seen a pack of $ symbols going cheap?
