Is there really a need for non rechargable batteries anymore? You can get el cheapo ebay ones for $1 each? So 4 charges and you already break even? Yes they're not that great maybe half the power of these so instead of changing batteries on your remote every 6 months - you have to charge them up every 3.
Lithium batteries maybe because they actually last longer and are very resistant to weather but not sure about regular batteries anymore.
Maybe jv is right in that its just good to have a set with a really long expiry date as emergency spares.

I use rechargeables all the time for my radio, camera flash and torches.
Always carry a spare set and recharge immediately after I swap over, that way I always have fully charged batteries when I need them.
For alkalines, I always buy the Varta from Bunnings, AA and AAA are $8.98 for 30…
Made in Germany and not China…
Mainly use these for the kids toys that run better with 1.5V…
Works out around $1.20 for 4 alkalines…Works out around $1.20 for 4 alkalines…
jv .. you've done it again
A bargain within a bargain, fantastic.
Jv, unless they've changed their manufacture back to Germany since the last batch of Vartas I bought, they're still making them in China.
Excellent batteries, nonetheless.

Alkalines are much better in devices liek clocks, remote controls, etc that have lower power draw.
Also, an Alkaline is always ready to go
It's not good to keep Rechangeables on charge continuously, so how do you know what condition they are in when you drag them out of the drawer?
For continually used devices, rechargeable is a no-brainer. But for occasional use, they are annoying.
got 3 last night.
now shows $3.99 and out of stock.
received 2day- thanx again op :)
