You can get 2560x1440 27" IPS monitors for a reasonable price, that's twice as many pixels as 1080p. Off-brand Korean 2560x1440 monitors can be brought off Ebay for less than $400, get the Dual DVI only output ones if you want lag free gaming but make sure your computer can connect to it.
Yep! The Dell U2713HM is on sale too (27in 1440p) - $559

Very good price, the LG and Samsung equivalents usually go for about $650.
Yes, it is ridiculous that tablets and phones have more pixels than most PC monitors.
From a manufacturing point of view it makes a fair bit of sense, the chances of defective panels probably increase exponentially with size. It's like asking why there's a Nokia phone with a 40 megapixel sensor when professional SLR's are stuck at 36, the phone sensor probably costs 20x less to make.
You're not going to find those kind of pixels in a PC monitor of this size. They just don't make them.
Get a Retina mac display or something.

huh? I thought Apple only sold a 27" monster.
Is this a good price or has it been much cheaper before?
Cheers got one, the Emma Watson wallpaper is gonna look awesome with these + Eyefinity
Still has fewer pixels than a lot of 9 to 10" tablets.
How long will large computer monitors be stuck at 1080 rows? Give me a reason to upgrade guys! :)
