  The write speed on the standard 840 is quite slow.

  The 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus is a faster drive. Unsure of reliability though on this model.

  I have used Sandisk SSD's going back 5 years without issues. I still have a couple of PATA 1.8" units, running fine in Dell Latitude D430's.

  840 is the run-out model, replaced by much better performing 840EVO by end of month.

  BTW. Evo and Sandisk Extreme II are the only two drives currently supporting new queued TRIM feature.
