to put this offer up for all to see. Thanks and regards.
From your checkout system - still showing it too. And a 40c paypal fee
I hate Kaspersky due to the annoying uninstallation process.
pretty sure that is a security feature, security generally IS a pain in the butt (thats why social engineering etc works so well)
It is but they can easily make you enter a password to uninstall it or make you put it in safe mode. Instead they make you download and install an uninstall file.
What? I just installed it the other day as the free 6month trial ran out (deal was on ozbargain, all had to do is fb like and enter email), had no such issue.
Same, when i remove Kaspersky stuff it is easy
It is against Kaspersky's terms to sell OEMs without bundling it with a new computer. If they catch a reseller doing this, they could deactivate all the keys sold from that reseller.
Hm. Anyone have any further thoughts on this? Considering getting a copy but this OEM issue is deterring me from doing so.
It is Kaspersky's business model to get onto as many computers as possible - they make money from renewals, etc.
Smeg is technically correct, but I wouldn't worry about it. It is unlikely they will deactivate your key as that is costly and almost impossible for them to enforce; the reseller may get a slap of the wrist for selling OEM instead of the retail product.
It is possible for Kaspersky to deactivate keys. It's not costly, they deactivate keys that have been shared among too many users to prevent piracy.
Hmm I doubt anything would happen but I a suppose it could.
You can ask MSY. I think sometimes they just sell it to you for the $1?
Interesting, auspost started delivering e-copies of software !!!!
Is Kaspersky better then Norton 360 ?
In terms of detection rates, false positives, malware/virus removal, heuristics; absolutely. Kaspersky regularly tops out on many AV comparison benchmarks.
The GUI, performance and user-friendliness is subjective. I basically see Kaspersky as being like Norton, in that it's bloated, slow, has a clunky UI, bothers the user a lot with intrusive pop-ups and is a real pain to uninstall; but with one key difference, it actually works.
Norton's pretty good these days - when I used it (switched to Webroot because it's smaller and they had a deal on for 5 devices for $50 a while back) the only popups it shot up were its analysis of downloaded files (e.g. safe and stable), unless it was about to expire in which case it got very melodramatic and was very insistent that you renew it.
Kaspersky I don't mind (unless it's the godawful Endpoint 8.1, which has resource usage reminiscent of Norton of old unless you basically neuter it) - it's a little better than Norton with protection rates, but it is awfully chatty in comparison - do you want to scan this flash drive, should this be allowed through the firewall, etc., which is not helpful with beginner users.
Have to turn this off as it made my computer lag.
$14 delivery for an electronic copy?????????
should be putting that in the title
