Probably a store special so put location in title.

  • I've always wondered, can the phone use the one interface/communication channel for both numbers, or is it completely duplicated. IE, two antennas, two transmitters & receivers and therefore double the power consumption/half the battery.

You'd have to look up the specs for each model, but it's far more common to just switch SIMs, only one is active.

      • +3

No. For All chineses dual BOTH numbers are simultaneuosly active. In fact, One can see two separated signal strength indicators being typically connected to differerent mobile networks. One selects the default line to send messages , calls etc, but that can be changed at any time. However there is typically a limitation on the 3g funcionality being available in full to only one of the 2 sims

        • -1

Depends on what market you are talking about. What you say is true of the Chinese market, but here the SIM switching models are more common.

  • -2

both sim / numbers are NOT active at the same time, you switch between the two as needed

512 Ram is a little on the low side

    • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIQdxYpOEwM This says that it's a two antenna phone

    • How do you know this?

    • +1

You are not right. I explained this above. Both numbers are simultaneously active. That is the whole point of having a dual sim phone.

    • In previous century, someone came up with the idea of dual SIM adapter for Nokia phones.
Only one SIM could be active at a time.
To switch, the phone needed to be restarted.

      • I thought dual sim ACTIVE Nokia phone($55) in Officeworks are everyday price!

  • Thanks OP - but can you elaborate on the address? Google doesn't show any Aldis on Brunswick St.

My bad. Aldi Brunswick on Sydney Road. Updated details.

  • Reasonable deal. Consider too these but all are single-SIM only. All except the Frontier has 512MB RAM, like this ALDI phone.

$149 Telstra Frontier 4G, 850/2100 (no Optus), 4G, ICS, 1GB RAM, locked to Telstra.
$99 Telstra Huawei Y300: 850/2100 (no Optus), Jelly bean, bigger battery, locked but 'bagman' can unlock for ~$6
$99 Vodafone Huawei G300+, 850/900/2100 (Optus OK), ICS-upgrade, single-core, locked but 'bagman' can unlock for ~$6 or free via Voda website.

I wouldn't be surprised these are customer returned phones. I returned mine after only one day as I kept getting out of memory messages. After a few hours it complained when I tried to read my gmail messages that there is no memory to allow operation.

  • Tempting but the RAM is only 512Mb :( i actually need a phone too, my U8510 died. Any quad core with decent ram out there sub$150?

  • a THL W100 is around that price range mate, good discussion on it here ,
