  • It's about $98 from a lot of places in the US - amazon, world of watches, plus plenty of others just throw the title into google :)

    • +7

they're around $5 in Hong Kong.

      • Do you have a link and/or picture as an evidence?

        • +1

This place had them for $5

Pretty sure you can haggle the price down a bit more.

        • Yeah if you want a counterfeit.

  • +11

    Was $595

    cough cough bs

    • +1

      decimal point missing ;)

      • +1

        yep, should be $5.95…

        • JV this is a chronograph watch. While you might not noticed the $5.95 cheapo you bought in Bali has chronograph watch face none of the it actually works. The hands are stuck down.

To actually make the chronograph work costs money, a lot more if its made by a actual Swiss worker.

        • +1

This watch had a $5 quartz movement in it. Invicta are notorious corner cutters and over inflate their prices. $30-60 is probably fair market value for these watches, spend any more and you can get a Seiko/Citizen which are far superior quality and value wise.

        • ^this is probably true. The movement wouldn't be worth much but its still better then any thing you buy at the $2 store.

I wouldn't pay much for a Invicta watch.

  • If you're looking at these, I bought a $600 (WOW) for around $100 on amazon last time and I gotta say:

    1) The glass face is EXTREMELY scratch resistant.
    2) Great solid feel with good weight to it.
    3) Keeps good time.
    4) Date is recessed a lot so that most of the time it's in shadow and is hard to read.

do all the sub dials work? I know for the cheaper watches, sub dials are purely for display which is annoying as hell. been caught out once

  • Mmmmmm….luxury Swiss watch. LOL.

    • Movement: Swiss parts chronograph quartz

So is it Quartz or what? Isn't Swiss movement and quartz totally different

      • Umm… quartz = battery powered. Swiss movement means the (quartz) movement is Swiss. Not totally different.

        • Quartz is battery powered. Swiss movement means its made in Switzerland or Swiss parts/design.

If it says Swiss mechanical movement then its a wind up watch with no battery.

  • +1

88% off? But available for the same price everywhere…
    Yeah right.
If this was in Australia, the law says they would have to show the true everyday price, not the "RRP"

  • -1

    Gender: Men's

    how can you tell ??

    • +17

      By the …. chronosomes :P

    • +3

if the pin is longer than others?

    • +5

it doesn't cook, clean, wash or iron.

  • -2

What is with people hating on Invicta? It's just as good quality as brands like Seiko, G-Shock, etc. This one is definitely not worth 200+ but it's also worth more than $5. Although it isn't as much bargain as it is described to be, it will probably still cost about $150 in Australia. I think it is still bit of a bargain just not as much as described.

Seiko dont sell their products by trying to pretend they are something they are not. People love Seiko because they feel they are getting more than they paid for. Invicta on the other hand trades off pretending to be a Swiss competitor to the likes of Oris and Omega, to the point where they bought the rights to the old Invicta watch company (which originally went broke during the Quartz crisis in the 70's). They market their products like a rug salesman, claiming $500+ RRP's with massive discounts. A quick check of the net reveals that the claimed massive discounts are standard.

Basically, they prey on the unwary and watch fans dislike them for it!

      • Yes I agree with you and I do like my Seiko watch but this deal is $108 including shipping. We are talking about getting what you pay for. This watch is worth $108 and you are not paying $500 and no one is getting ripped off. Maybe I didn't word correctly, just trying to say people shouldn't be saying it's like a $5 watch because it isn't.

  • +1

might get one to somewhat match my mower.

    • I thought you had a Masport?

  • +1

I bought an Invicta 12838 Pro Divers watch for $85 from Amazon around christmas last year and the watch is still going strong banged it around a bit and the glass face has never gotten scratched. Looks like the day i bought it.

  • +4

I have 2 invictas from Amazon the movements are rubbish and water resistance is an overstatement even the diving watch had water in it after a shower

    • -1

I've been in heavy rain with my Invicta watch and didn't get an ounce of water in it. Your Invicta must have been a cheap shit model or it was a poor quality counterfeit.

      • +8

I'm not a watch snob, but being able to resist 'heavy rain' is a pathetically low standard for a diving watch

..and nobody is going to fake an Invicta

        • Watch out for fake Invicta watches they're not the real deal and would be poor quality compared to the real Invicta watches. Would explain why his watch would leak water inside of it in a shower it might be a cheap counterfeit.

          http://www.ebay.com/gds/How-to-spot-a-fake-Invicta/100000000…

Watch out for these buggers selling replica Invicta watches (faked). They look like the real deal but they're fake.

          http://www.towatchesshop.com/Replica-Invicta-Watches.html

So it seems some one is bothering to make fake Invicta watches.

        • +5

Fake Invicta??? Seriously?? Why bother, the Invicta guys themselves are borderline pirates trying to sell their substandard product hidden behind the name of the old swiss brand they bought the rights to and the faked RRP they claim in their adverts.

        • No legitimate invicta dealer sells invicta at a discount of more than 50%
going by above it's a fake!

just face the fact that watches have become like jewellery, i.e almost always discounted with ridiculous RRP figures that no one ever pays

        • +2

Not true, some of the genuine Swiss watches resist discounting as 'prestige' is part of their sales strategy. It is true you may be able to negotiate a discount if you are lucky but I've heard of swiss watch brands destroying surplus stock rather than devalue their brand. If you can find a shop anywhere in the world selling a genuine Liquidmetal Omega Planet Ocean, or a Balncpain 50 fathoms or a Rolex Daytona for 50% off I'll happily give you a $200 spotters fee!

        • True. I was able to negotiate 15% off of my Tudor Pelagos (Rolex group), but they wouldn't go any lower. Was the same with Omega, Breitling and Rolex. I've found TAG, Rado, Raymond Weil and a few others are regularly discounted quite a bit.

  • +3

Invicta watches come out of their chinese factory 88% off. This is how they market them, trick people into believing they are getting a Rolex/Omega quality watch at 90% off. In reality most are probably fair value at the non inflated price. I certainly hope nobody anywhere ever has paid the claimed RRP for an Invicta!!

  • Ebay is getting more BS by the day!! fake items being readily available, yet they do nothing about it because hurts their bottom line!

  • -1

I don't think anyone in their right mind would think these are equivalent to Oris, Rolex and Omega… those are starting at $2000 - $5000+ price tag. I don't think they're even aiming at Tag Heuer.

I do own an Invicta and they're good solid watch. comparable or just below to Tissot I think. This one got Swiss Made on the face, so dunno, maybe it is made by a Swiss living in China.

    • As long as 50% of the watch can claim some kind of swiss involvement they can use the 'Swiss Made' label. Obviously labour is a lot cheaper in asia than it is in Switzerland!

      http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/28/business/global/swiss-watc…

    • +1

Tissot is excellent, certainly several cuts above Invicta. Invicta compares more directly to brands like Sturling, Swiss Legends and a whole host of other Asian made brands who claim tenuous ties to Switzerland.

Shady marketing practices, shoddy QC and just the fact that there are so many better watches to buy in this price bracket means I wouldn't touch an Invicta with a 100 foot pole.

      • I think you are deluded if you think tissot is "excellent" they just dont use the same marketing technique as invicta.

Invicta actually has some decent ETA/vajoux swiss movments in some of their watches, just the same movments that tissot uses in their top end series watches.

Invicta uses highly inflated prices and discounts them as marketing
Tissot uses B grade celebirties (Danica Patrick/Tony Parker/Nicky Hayden) to market their watches.

I would call both brands in the same class. They make standard quartz stuff like this OP deal and they make OK swiss auto watches as daily wearers even if you own a rolex as a "weekender" /dress watch.

        • +1

Tissot provides value as they are an affordable entry point into Swiss watches. Along with this comes Swiss standards of QC. Invicta could make the exact same watch with the exact same parts and they would still be inferior watches because they have shoddy quality control and poor business practices.

Invicta relies on marketing to sell watches instead of letting their watchmaking do the talking. For example their "Flame Fusion" crystals which they claim are as durable as sapphire, but are nothing more than cheap mineral crystals.

Not to mention that Invicta just blatantly steals designs from other companies. Tissot produce their own designs.

I'm glad you think they're ok, but they would never get a dollar from me. FWIW I own watches from Tissot, Panerai, Ebel, Tudor, Seiko, Casio, Christopher Ward, TAG Heuer and have owned many more from many more.

  • no sure if real… save over $500…

    • The Invicta watch i bought from Amazon had the original price as $895 yet it was on sale for $85 and this was sold from amazon.com themselves so it was no dodgy ebay seller etc. I think the RRP of these Invicta watches are highly inflated.

      • Yeah they are like that white van thing.

    • dang.. was $45 just last night and now $68
